  • For those of you at home, Democrats would need to have just four Republicans join them to vote for impeachment.

In the Senate you would need 19 Republicans to join the Democrats/Independents to remove Trump from office. Honestly I don't think that's out of the realm of possibilities considering there is a literal trial and witnesses can be called to testify about all of the illegal things Trump is doing.

EDIT: BTW this lady is a flipping Senator. Your job is to be a voice for your constituents. Not saying "I'm afraid of retaliation so I'm just going to sit by quietly and let the people who elected me take the brunt of the GOP/MAGA administration's illegal actions."

  • FYI the text above is currently the entire story - so no need to click a link for more info.

Good first step. Keep in mind this is from the previous order that was ignored, not the whole Kilmar Ábrego García fiasco.

  • There were two telling things for me in the coverage.

First, it was always "thousands" of people at the event. Not tens of thousands like in Boston. Not something on the order of 100,000 or more in NYC (it stretched for 20 BLOCKS). All over the media "thousands" of protesters. Not "millions attend Anti-Trump rallies across US cities" like the National Post wrote.

The coverage tried to make it sound like this was 1,200 mostly insignificant protests across the country.

Second, most of the news websites weren't covering it live. And when it finally made the front page later that day or the next morning, it was 2/3/4 stories down.

Now ... compare that to what happened in South Korea. Yes, a very different ballgame, but it was halfway across the world and ALL of the news media were treating it as breaking news and halting all other coverage.

That protest had about 1 million people.

Our protests had about 5,000,000 people across the country.

It should have been covered as a much bigger deal.

  • I really hope some of the non-MAGA Republicans in the House and Senate start to realize their careers might be over if they don't do something. People aren't going to forget. And once Trump is out of the picture, they don't have anybody else with an iota of whatever qualities make people listen/like/follow/adore him.

  • Lock. Them. Up.

  • Imagine that. You have unqualified amateurs in important government positions, and they don't know what they're doing.

  • His 'we'll wait until he gets to a 40% approval rating' comment speaks worlds to me.

I think the problem right now is a lot of democrats (and non-MAGA republicans) are still acting like this is business as usual. And don't fully recognize that this is an assault on democracy.

    We need leaders. Not politicians.

  • Just another example of how the Democratic party is only slightly less fucked than the Republicans.

  • My wife bought one of these pieces of shit before we got together. A few months back I finally got to the point where I had the "honey we need to throw out your printer and get a new one."

"OK - should we give it to my sister or see if any of our friends want this?"

"I'm not sure I dislike any of your friends or family enough to inflict this much frustration on them."

  • Yup. The whole thing is a ruse to get rid of Income Tax in favor of Tariffs, which will essentially act as a national sales tax.

  • And let's not forget they can now spend $5 million of that on a "golden visa" to become legal US residents on the path to citizenship.

  • Just when you thought you couldn’t get any more embarrassed being an American.

This is a great window into how Trump, Vance and MAGA do business.

    Bully. Yell. Lie. Threaten.

  • Good.

Much like the appeasers that enabled Hitler, history is going to look back on Pelosi, Schumer, Kamala, Biden, Obama, Clinton, Jefferies, and other democrats who stood by and let all this happen on their watch without so much as a wimper.

  • It's almost like Trump when to a seminar on the incredible healing power of tariffs, and believed every word he heard.

  • Late this fall, after all of the nonsense on Reddit, Facebook, and Instagram I asked myself a very simple question.

"Is the reason I joined these sites still valid? What do I actually enjoy about social media these days?"

The answer was basically "rose colored glasses."

I joined **Reddit **after the 'deaths' of Slashdot and Digg. It became my source to get new and interesting content I probably wouldn't have found otherwise. Now it's bots arguing with bots and 75+% of the content is just recycled shit by people trying to make money. Much of the rest is from people trying to manipulate you.

    Delete.

I joined Facebook to keep in touch with my friends and family - especially those I don't see often. Over time, the amount of good content from people I knew dropped to maybe 25% of my feed. Most of it now is AI-generated bullshit or more of the same recycled content you see on Reddit.

    Delete.

I joined Instagram to share some of my landscape photos and view some of the great photos some close friends were sharing. Over time that became less and less. Queue the recycled and AI-bullshit content.

    Delete.

So, I challenge everybody to ask themselves do they actually enjoy social media? Do these sites actually add value to your life and in any way remain true to their promise when you joined them so many moons ago. Are you actually making any connections with people? The 'social' in 'social' media? Or just watching people talk at each other, not to each other.

After answering those questions, the answer about whether to stick around is pretty clear.

  • It's interesting that the Project 2025 text spells out diversity, equity and inclusion, while the executive order just says DEI.

I 100 percent thing folks need to push back on the blanket use of 'DEI' because they're trying to make it mean the same as 'woke.'

I'm sure there's a number of mouthbreathers out there who'll say they're against DEI, but if you ask "you mean diversity, equity and inclusion?" they'll back pedal.

  • Mercedes also includes a number of items as a subscription in some countries. Some stuff is app related. Others are things like getting full use of your rear-steering wheels and unlocking extra horsepower.
