  • I want to know how Half Life ends. I couldnt give a shit about fan shit. Some of its good and engaging, not putting it down, but its not relative to the current issue... I want the conclusion to the fucking story I paid for and got massively invested in, in 2004. That I bought the next chapters of in 2006 and 2007.

    Two things piss me off like nothing else when it comes to media.

    Stories that leave you on a cliffhanger and never finish.

    and Stories that are amazing all the way up until the end, when someone just decides to squeeze a big fat wet turd out and said good enough (Fucking mass effect..)

  • Valve has said on at least a couple occasions they don't really have interest in making games anymore, unless there is some new technology they get interested in that they can make a game around.

    The HL2 episodes were basically tests for different source engine technologies.

    Alyx was basically then playing around with VR.

    So yeah, I can totally see some weird fucked up thing like a brainchip being what HL3 is built around, if HL3 ever stops being anything more than a syphilitic hallucination of a desperate mind.

  • there is a near endless supply of brother laser printers at thrift stores for under 15 bucks. and they come with toner carts still in them.

    the last one I got from goodwill is still going strong on the toner that came with it, and its been years.

    and if the toner ever does wear out, hell, I could buy 3 more printers for what the toner would cost.

    also bonus that brother printers work super good in linux, least headache i've ever had installing a printer.

    Bathroom fixture manufacturers created a massive marketing/propaganda campaign around the idea of Hygiene, and the idea that its better for your health and safety, simply because they wanted to sell more fixtures..and the way to do that was to get more houses built with indoor plumbing facilities, because in the era before this.. a solid chunk of the population still used outhouses, and bathed in portable tubs they filled with water heated up one pot at a time on a stove once every few weeks.. if that. and because filling the tub was so much work, the whole family washed in it, without changing the water.. usually the husband first, then the mother, then the kids in order of age got to bath in the bouillabaisse of mom and dads filth.

    You'd be gobsmacked how many things like that are the result of marketing.

    Milk being essential for bone health? Another marketing gimmick, from the dairy industry.

    Diamonds are essential for proposals/weddings? Another marketing gimmick, from the diamond cartels.
