  • A lot of the channels that copy his whole primitive living/creating technology from nothing shit have been caught using heavy machinery and other cheats to do a lot of the work off camera.

But you have Primitive Technology, doing it all, slow and steady, by hand, legitimately, like a boss.

  • Oh I dont recall fully, so don't take what I'm about to say as facts..

But I believe the "official" reason was that InRange was taking up time Ian needed to travel to do episodes for Forgotten Weapons.

and I believe the unofficial reason was something to do with the company that originally made and sold the What Would Stoner Do AR for them, And how they ended up outing themselves as assholes for using like..right wing dog whistles and antiLGBT things for discount codes, Which Karl has zero issue calling out on, but Ian was more interested in avoiding making a public stance on any of it and risking being political, and causing any harm to his relationship with that company. So Ian parted ways and, if I recall, has had zero interaction with InRange since.

Again, I reiterate, its been a while since i last brushed up on it, and I may have details wrong, so do not take this as hard and true fact.

  • I view an ebike as a vehicle. A means to an end.

I want one, I'll never afford it, but I want one. Not because I want to ride around without pedaling, but because I want to get to someplace without having to work my ass off in the miserable heat, so I have the energy and stamina to do stuff at the destination without being soaked in sweat. Like go fishing, or have lunch, or go for a walk on a trail,or even go to the store for a few essentials, or any of a hundred different things that normal people'd use a car for.

  • Thats cause Mike Rowe is a right wing twat, who likes to cosplay as blue collar

  • the movie reviews and stuff are just James Rolfe as James Rofle, from what I gather.. he certainly seems much more comfortable and happy doing them, too.

  • I agree with you on Forgotten Weapons. Also got kinda skeezed out with all the giveaways that required to to buy ridiculous and overpriced crap for an entry into the raffle.

You might like InRangeTV then, it hits all the stuff. Pro LGBT, Anti Maga, Anti Racist, while producing excellent videos about guns, history, etc.

    I sound like i paid shill dont I :\

  • Alton got me into cooking. Hes brilliant. Can be a bit.. big and exuberant at times, but all around excellent guy.

  • I agree.

I wonder if he's tired of doing the AVGN character and wants to go on to something else, but he's carved out too big a rut for anyone that supports him to want to support him as anything but The Nerd.

  • didnt Hickok45 do something similar? I think I remember something about him having someone on or having a memorial or something for someone distasteful.. but I cant remember, and may be totally and absolutely wrong.

  • TheSpiffingBrit went from faux elitism to actual elitism and I just don’t find him funny anymore.

Got an example? I've not really noticed any actual elitism, just his regular upper crust british characterism.

Obviously not saying its not possible, just that i havent seen it. Which is why I'd love some examples.

  • I never saw Weissman's supposed glory days, but I did hear people talk about him and checked him out and found him insufferable.

I also dropped Babish, I just got tired of the slop content and the overall drop in quality.

I genuinely think cooking channels have a finite lifespan, because theres only so much you can cook before your audience basically has all the cooking knowledge they need to do everything.

  • I used to watch a lot of fishing/outdoors channels.

during covid all but one of the outdoor channels I watched either did straight up covid denial, or went full mask off on their right wing extremism in general and with crazy conspiracy theories about covid, so I dropped them.

I also dropped bigclive around the same time, because he thought people getting sick from vaping was, iirc, some kind of government hoax or something, while also engaging in the whole "covids just the cold, stop being silly" type of denialism, Which really sucked cause I used to love his content.. but I havent watched since.

  • PC. the wealth of cheap games that are available on PC alone makes it the more viable option.. Especially if you hit steam on sale, or use isthereanydeal.com

especially if you aim for 1080p instead of 4k for gaming. 4k gaming comes with such a ridiculous and absurb price premium that you could probably build 2-3 1080p gaming rigs for the same price... or buy shittons of games.

  • Best generation of consoles?

Im gonna have to say the 4th and 5th generations, together.

4th gen had Super Nintendo, and it is my opinion that gaming would not be what it is today if the SNES did not appear. It was such a revolutionary leap forward, Not so much technically, but just in how games were made and played. You had RPGs that could be played for a hundred hours, with beautiful lush graphics. You had stuff that seem pulled straight from the future, like F-Zero and Star Fox, and you just had a lot of brilliant games in between.

And 5th gen had the Playstation, Which basically took everything that the SNES did, and iterated it to the next level. The only place where the PSX failed being a straight SNES upgrade was on load times, due to the abandoning of carts for CDs.

You have to give an honorable mention, of course, to the NES for revitalizing the home games industry after Atari's collapse, where maybe none of what we have today would exist as we know it if it wasnt for the NES.

I think anything from the PS3 later started getting too obsessed with computing power and graphics, to the significant detriment of game quality, story, and playability. of course there were still games from there after, but they felt more rare than at any time before it.

  • Hell no.

I dont even want to continue with this miserable life, why the fuck would I want to keep doing it over and over again.

  • Live Aid, Wembly London, 1985.

    Mostly just to watch Queen.

  • Yep. And you are more likely to retain that knowledge getting it that way, vs getting your answer from a quick internet search.

There have been studies that have shown that getting answers quickly from search engines/internet has caused a marked reduction in our ability to remember things, because our brain knows its right there in our pocket/on our computer to find again so it doesnt even bother to try to retain it.

But if you make a concerted effort of going to the library, browsing, reading 20 other really interesting things along the way, your chances of retaining and recalling it skyrocket

  • I read a while ago someone who said Frats are for people who think they'll make social connections for future business.

While people who actually make connections for future business is joining business related clubs and extracuriculars.

  • Oh dear, to avoid revealing anything identifiable, and not write a novel, I'll keep this shortish.. but to answer the question..

My last relationship, she pursued me aggressively, then once she got me to agree to relationship with her, ended up screwing around with 3 other people behind my back not long after. slipped up her story with one of them, which made all 3 aware and her house of cards fell, and she had the audacity to come to me expecting there theres and head pats telling her it was all right from me, while telling me about all 3 and everything she did with them.. I gave her a nice tirade about what I thought about her audacity, and her, and told her to never even think my name again, much less contact me in any fashion.

The relationship before that, another woman that kinda aggressively pursued me, got me to spend a lot of money for her, would emotionally manipulate me, and eventually started to physically hit me. When I finally stood up for myself in the smallest way, she lost her absolute shit at me, which resulted in me finally saying enough is enough and ending the relationship.

The "relationship" before that, that I'm just mentioning for a laugh over how ridiculous it was.. another woman that approached me and asked me if I wanted to try dating her, I'd casually known her for a short while as a friend of a friend kind of thing, so I said sure..30 minutes later she was in another room with her dress hiked up bouncing on someone elses lap on a couch. Obviously this wasnt a real relationship, so its not like I had any hangups from this one, but its certainly a what the fuck moment.

So yeah, I've never really had what you'd call a healthy relationship, and honestly at this point in my life I genuinely thinking I'm giving up on women in general, as far as relationships go.
