  • America bad, upvotes to the left

  • "Some studies are done with funding contingent on a certain result, therefore all science is junk and science as an institution is untrustworthy"

  • Offering free things TO filthy communists. Which makes them filthy by association. Everyone knows you can't let communists have any help, otherwise how would we know it doesn't work?

  • ok well there was your mistake, you have to talk to a crab

  • Chef

    Jump
  • That's not true! They have to keep sending it back to the kitchen over and over and over, spending a little more money each time, really being in a dialogue with the chef

  • One might even say it was virtually insane of them to do this.

  • What is "main branch" in this context? Main branch of what?

  • I never said I thought you could generate a 30 minute video from a single prompt. Strawman. I don't think that, and I don't know where you got the idea that I think that, but I don't care, because, again, I AM DONE ARGUING WITH YOU.

    Kindly fuck off.

  • I would tell you why your baseless assumptions about my knowledge are wrong, and explaining to you the myriad justified reasons I have for hating the technology's current deployments and stated functions, but that would mean spending another second talking to you than I absolutely had to, and I've just decided that life is too short. Instead, I'll simply link you to this other comment where I did that, and then ignore your response because I don't care. https://pawb.social/comment/23967322

It's extremely funny to me, though, that you don't know what Midjourney is. Next you're going to tell me you've never heard of an em dash.

  • Cool meme bro. What does it have to do with the debate over Midjourney again?

  • I did, and I found quite a few of the people you just said didn't exist.

I found even more arguments that relied on almost as much faulty logic as they did incorrect facts. Strawman arguments about what I believe as far as the eye can see, with the occasional easily googleable falsehood about how AI or Nightshade works or doesn't thrown in for good measure.

Oh, and an absolute shitton of people just believing that stealing art is fine actually, or that if people like redrawing AI art, they must be okay with it because they "copied" the AI's idea. I can't decide which is worse, that they're not arguing in good faith, or that their sense of what art theft is has been so warped that they actually unironically believe it.

Funny how you went from claiming an argument was a strawman to defending it as soon as you were shown other people believed it though. That's super interesting.

  • But I think what OP was actually getting at is the idea that people are demanding recognition for their AI-generated slop as “art,” and I just don’t think that’s what’s happening.

Do you live under an actual rock?

  • Nah. I've had too many in-person conversations about AI that minimize the harm it does (ecologically, psychologically, in terms of social dynamics) to believe real people are normal.

  • Or a free ride when you've already paid.

  • I'm not... disagreeing with... that. I... you know what, forget it.

  • ...Millennials are gen Y?

  • Ooh! Ooh! Make a school shooter joke! Those are always a hit!

  • Yeah. Why on Earth do you think I care whether a random unc thinks something I do is lame?

  • Nix / NixOS @programming.dev

My new user experience has been awful and I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. Could really use some guidance.
