  • Once you disregard the consequences, because “woke”, and predict gas prices to be constant for 30 years, then more efficiency is just a cost with no benefit. If your only consideration is immediate profit to a corporate owner, any cost is “fraud, waste and abuse”. /s

  • He’s more than the symptom, he’s the facilitator. Those sociopaths wouldn’t have a path to power without speaking through their puppet’s mouth. They wouldn’t be able to avoid consequences without the expectation of pardons for free or simple bribe

  • I use a password manager so I don’t have to remember all of the hundreds of passwords that online services insist I set up. Each one is unique and complex, unguessable … and there’s no way I could remember them all. Before the password manager, I would find a good password and use it for many/most places, meaning that if anyone was careless and leaked my actual password, then someone would effectively have all my passwords.

But to answer your question, yes, for apples implementation, your normal account and phone unlocking also unlock your passwords. Depending on settings, you probably need to use your biometrics each time

  • This logical disconnect is even worse than the time loop concept. There’s no logic for someone remembering from a previous loop and even less logic for some people remembering and some not

  • Yeah but it’s back to the “good ole boy”network here. Not excusing the guy but there are assholes everywhere. However it t makes a huge difference whether their behavior is acceptable or not.

I like to believe that in most places people would be horrified and he would have immediately been discouraged/cesured/sanctioned and never do that again

  • I can really only compare to Reddit and find the fediverse generally better

But those outliers are a doozy. I don’t recall even wanting to block anyone on Reddit but have blocked at least half a dozen here. Just earlier today I had to because we were enjoying a nice discussion, then someone stumbled in saying they’ve debated politics with me, starts attacking, trying to start an argument over something completely unrelated ….. Reddit had plenty of trolls but I never encountered anyone there who followed me around to be an asshole.

So on the one hand the capability of blocking anyone is a great way to stop seeing the most toxic part of the fediverse, but on the other hand there’s got to be a more permanent solution

  • Maybe Chicago. It’s been years: I used to like going once or twice a year and convinced my ex we had to do it for the kids

Edit: or maybe that Billy Joel show

  • Oatmeal

    Jump
  • Pumpkin seeds? Cool

I recently got both hemp hearts and pumpkin seeds, and have no idea what to do with either

  • Dry? Plain? Flavorless? Even if you start with good bread with flavor, toasting it takes that flavor away. But I’m not going to judge if you want my toast. Dry, plain, flavorless toast with nothing on it. Enjoy!

  • Yeah none of that, but one of my kids is a pretty serious weightlifter, so I need some serious equipment for when they’re home from school for the summer.

And an exercycle for cardio when the weather isn’t good

Started with the cycle: a high end machine for dirt cheap off Marketplace. Then dumbbells (except they’re only up to 30 lbs and he uses higher). Most recently found a deal on an Olympic bar and plates. Now comes the hard part: benches and racks, and I’m running out of time to find them on Marketplace

  • This person needs to develop self-awareness: why is it only becoming a problem when it affects her directly?

Her issue doesn’t affect me at all but I still want to do the right thing. And I would never vote for Trump because it was pretty clear he wouldn’t do the right thing, in many human right and quality of life scenarios

(Plus he had a long history as a con man from before he ran for election, before he paid for his sleazy reality show to reset his reputation: I’m still confused how people could fall for this)

  • I gotta admit to one particular nightmare here

Setting up a home gym in my garage to hopefully remove my excuses ….. but years back an acquaintance died while using his home gym in his garage, and was discovered by family. You don’t usually think of exercise as a deadly risk but it happens. Since I live alone, the nightmare is it would be a long time before I was discovered and that much more traumatic if it were family

  • Literally watching a presentation right now where they quoted “Use AI intentionally, not as the only answer”

On the other hand my human knowledge is invalidated because my kpis focus more on how frequently I use ai than on what I do

In my real life, also mostly no. My kids are in college, so they mostly need their bills paid and I rarely see them in person

  • Then you have the additional challenge of matching the amount of bread to the amount of spreadable butter or peanut butter

  • Ha ha, my wife accused me of that as well, because of this exact scenario.

…. But eating sandwiches is very predictable: why wouldn’t you order exactly the slices you need for a week?

  • Bread would be worse because I’m less likely to want to eat just bread. It’s also minimal because why care about bread? I might eat it simply because I don’t want to get up to find a place to dispose of it. If there were extra cheese I’d just eat it

But I reject this scenario: a more realistic and relatable one would be crackers and cheese. It’s also philosophically more of a challenge since crackers are valuable bread

  • That’s crazy. I’m seeing as long as 15 seconds ads and considering no longer wasting my time on YouTube

  • I mean that’s the actual problem I have: no longer have that thick hair. It started thinning out early and now it’s unavoidable. The thing is every barber or stylist wants to give me a combover despite me clearly saying not to from the beginning, and making them go back to fix it when I notice they did it anyway

But combovers only have a short window where they can reduce the obviousness of thinning hair, and quickly just call attention to it. It’s way too late for a combover to look reasonable on me, it just looks desperate and cringey.

I have to admit to some minor amusement when I wake up with a weird Mohawk though

  • I think I need to do this. I hate doing to get a haircut and they never listen to me. I’m sure I’ll look horrible in a buzz cut but at least it removes their freedom to do worse and shorter means I can go less often
