    Now they want you to not go to the site and instead see the information they stole from it without ever leaving their site

    Surely at least some of that heat could be tuned back into electricity. Yeah it's not gonna pay all the bills, but surely at a certain level of scale, there's gotta be some benefit in it just from an economical standpoint, let alone the ecological benefits of not accelerating climate change

  • HDHomerun is the commercial solution that is relatively painless assuming you have something that can run a client that supports it

    Open source, you probably want to look at tvheadend and a USB DVB-T tuner (hauppauge still make decent ones I believe) attached as the next most straightforward option, it can take a little bit to get set up but it's pretty seamless once it is. Same caveat about clients

    Also the purpose of the fine is not intended to be a slap on the wrist, it's intended to be a strong deterrent to ensure companies do everything they can to ensure the law is followed. Most companies won't take the risk of skipping compliance on something that could wipe the business out
