  • I'm soooo fucking glad for this question. I've been using thumbkey for like a year, after I got fed up using a normal keyboard. It's sooo convenient I feel like I make a lot less typos using it and sometimes I can even type without lookin at my screen

  • I'm reading The Farseer Trilogy right now and this fits the mc painfully well. It's really heartbreaking seeing him do what he believes is right despite everything else going on in his life

  • I agree with you, it's depressing that they were in this position in the first place. I guess what I'm trying to say is that even though the connection was imaginary and even though this might be better for them in the long run, as far they're concerned they just lost somebody important. But yeah, the fact they got so attached in the first is the real tragedy

  • This is honestly no heartbreaking. Regardless of what anybody thinks, this people are genuinely mourning what could be the closest they've had to a human connection in years. I don't what the solution is for vulnerable and lonely people like this, but it really is so sad

EDIT: after reading rayquetzatl's comment, I'm just more fucking mad at AI companies

  • Why is nobody talking about how

marauding black death wrapped in a spherical gradient of tortured spacetime

is such a fucking cool sentence

  • I absolutely love the font though

  • It's crazy how good these are getting. You're crushing it !!!

  • (so(its(lisp(then))))

what are your opinions on the newer lisp-like languages (clojure, janet, e.t.c)?I've heard people say they aren't real LISPs cause they don't reduce to cons cells, feels like a pontless distinction to me but I could be missing something.

  • yay, now I have another tool for my compulsive song categorisation. Am I the only who gets confused by metal genres? Feels like all the bands I listen to are either classified as: metalcore, prog metal or both. And what about alt-metal, is that like another name for prog?

  • That's pretty fucking neat

  • Holy Shit, that must have been gnarly. What was it even used for? Did they at least allow you to define helper functions?

  • The first time LinkedLists clicked for me was almost magical. I was reading Skiena's Algorithm Manual and that was honestly the best possible introduction

  • Isn't it? It's so simple but I also like the curly-brace shorthand C-like languages use.

  • That's so cute actually. I'm imagining something like "Ivan Inkling buying 20 oranges from Chris P. Bacon but Bacon is worried that some of his oranges are radiactive worm eggs. If the probability of as orange being an egg is 0.2 what is the probabilty that Ivan really bought twenty oranges"

  • so far it's just: "fuckee", "gynephillic", "supernal" and "crushembolic". Though I must have misheard the last one cause I can't find it anywhere

  • Ask Lemmy @lemmy.world

    What are your favourite Lists?

  • His dark green rubbery skin was thick enough for him to play the game of Vogon Civil Service politics, and play it well, and waterproof enough for him to survive indefinitely at sea depths of up to a thousand feet with no ill effects.

Mr. L. Prosser was, as they say, only human. In other words he was a carbon-based life form descended from an ape

something like these, perhaps? There are probably better examples, I just skimmed through the first couple chapters of Hitchiker's Guide to the galaxy

  • The first one instantly made me think of Douglas Adams
