Eventually the US auto market will be eaten alive. Lower cost vehicles cannibalize US manufacturers revenue and their business model requires large revenues, even when profits are low or nill.
The reason to be concerned is Chinese vehicles are equipped with all the sensors necessary for a distributed spy network. I don't think there's any way to guarantee data stays in the US. Chevy, Ford, etc will use this for reason to not change, given the government has an interest in keeping out Chinese vehicles.
