  • Restaurants that do not provide table service (such as fast casual chains) do not rely on tipped workers, but I am not sure those workers do any better than workers who live on tips.

  • It depends how it is done. Instead of denials, it could be used to "approve without review" all the easy cases and then forward to a human all the rest. This would speed up approval for lots of situations and focus human effort on more difficult cases.

  • Aside from direct vandalism or persuasion, is there something I can do to combat the Ring cameras on nearly every door in my neighborhood?

  • the code required to move the taskbar to the top or sides isn’t actually in Windows 11, because Microsoft created the new taskbar from the ground up

Funny, I run a script on my work computer that let's me move it. I like it on the top.

  • What's the difference between big software companies and drug cartels? No, this is not the opening line of a joke.

  • If healthcare was government run in the US, I imagine that it would be a lot like the public education system. Those who live in wealthier neighborhoods have great facilities and great doctors. Those who live in poorer neighborhoods and neighborhoods with higher crime would have lower quality facilities. Do you think we would finance it like we do public education? Do you think we would gatekeep access like we do public education?

  • Which ones that were bought by private equity ended-up going bankrupt? Do you have specific examples?

  • There's a reason hospitals get bigger and bigger. Economics drive scale and communities that cannot drive scale will fall behind regardless what the government does.

  • Humans have always been stupid but today technology has made it easier for the dumbest among us to be more influential than any stupid person of any prior era. This, we are in the golden age of stupidity.
