I want him to fall into the pits of hell, but before he does, his scorched, cheeto dust fingers breech the surface one last time to curl around Vance's pant leg, dragging him down with him.
Someone already wrote a really good answer, but using the money to help fund programs would be a start. Maybe make a safe place where they can hang out that doesn't offend you (not you specifically, just in general). If possible, I would even try and talk with them, become neighbors instead of enimies. While tackling homelessness would take a system wide change, I think sometimes just not adding to the problem and shame is the best we can do.
And I get it, I've had homeless people scream at me, see them urinate outside, not everything humans do is pleasant, and I also wouldn't want all of that right in front of my business. But, at least in this example, there is a ton of empty space, the building itself is mostly empty. Come together and make the rest of the unused property a shelter. That parking lot behind them alone was gigantic and I don't think I saw any cars there, why not let them have part of the parking lot? It just seems easier to be kind and try to work with them than set up a sound system to keep the entire neighborhood up.
"Are you going to help them? Use the money to help anyone, or maybe take this moment to highlight people in need?"
"The fuck? No, I'm going to make their lives worse for having the audacity to be poor and seeking shelter. How dare they ruin my view with their homelessness."
To be honest, everyone in the brothel (except for one character that's not seen often) seems to be vibing and happy with their professions. Some even openly say they like their jobs, so it's not all doom and gloom. Maomao herself seems indifferent to the possibility of her joining the brothel as a working girl. The child abuse is not shown explicitly, but it is talked about pretty often and it's pretty blunt about what happened and the reprocussions of it. So nothing graphic, just some busty women here and there.
All she asked for was some anime without excessive fanservice, suited for a younger audience, and your reaction was, "YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND, IT'S ART."
What a narrow view of the medium. Imagine telling all the Japanese female fans that if they want different representation, they're being ethnocentric. You want an anime without panty shots and lolis? THE ENTITLEMENT. You are the one who seems to be asking for art that only displays scenarios that fit your ideals, not OP.
If I wanted to be really nitpicky, they do pay extra attention to Fern's chest after she grows up. And some of the shots can be a little "male pov." This is not a diss to the show. I really, really enjoyed this series and would absolutely recommend it.
I hate this time line. All the advancements just to make life worse. I saw an article yesterday of a European country looking to raise the retirement age since people live longer. Even at work I have a program that monitors me to the second, and can tell if I'm clicking, typing, or "just moving the mouse." WFH can mean being on call 24/7. Any advice is always how to make do, or downsize. Which isn't bad in itself, but it's to "cope" with oligarchs wringing us dry for every second of time, and any money we happen to have. As things get "better", they just manage to make it worse. It's like the mere idea of a employee being treated like a human being and not their ID never is blasphemy. We have kids in factories and fast food jobs. This is ridiculous, and cruel. We should all be working less.
In the US? Worse, much worse. We'd have kings and queens at this point. The rich would make sure that their wealth always came back to them. People would probably have to test who their baby was before, probably a lot of adoptions and what have you. I could see parents suing the rich person if they didn't share their wealth, likely new laws would need to be enacted to insure the wealth isn't shared with anyone (and we know it'll pass because anything that hurts people always passes). I could even see a greater decline in birthrates. Who wants to carry a baby to term just to have it snatched away by the Walmart empire and leaving you with nothing but the scars? Or what if you happen to get a murderer who did heinous things?
Oh god, and debt would never, ever die. As soon as you're 18, they'd drop those same bills off, likely with interest. There would be no end to suffering, no peace at the end. You'll be in your 80's, still working to pay off debt that may be from two lifetimes ago. It would be harder for new artists as well. Just keep throwing Beyonce out there. Why get a new actor? Just keep putting the same guy in there, over and over.
Only thing I could see getting a little better is racism. Since you can't control who or what you come back as, kind of hard to hate brown people when you're just a flip of a coin away. They literally wouldn't be able to judge a book by its cover.
