GNU Wget 2.2.1 Released with New Options, Improvements, and Bug Fixes

GNU Wget 2.2.1 was released today as the latest stable version of this open-source command-line software for retrieving files using the most widely used Internet protocols, including HTTP, HTTPS, FTP, and FTPS.

Highlights of the GNU Wget 2.2.1 release include a new --show-progress argument to improve backwards compatibility to wget, the ability to prevent file truncation with the --no-clobber argument, and support for using the local system timestamp when requested via the --no-use-server-timestamps argument.

This release also improves the messages about why URLs are not being followed, adds support for using the ‘no_’ prefix in configuration options, adds support for using the libnghttp2 library for HTTP/2 testing, and adds support for setting the exit status to 8 on a 403 response code.
