  • First off, CRT is a red herring. It's an extremely niche framework for historical analysis and egalitarianism which is irrelevant outside academic contexts and only gained ground due to a racist asshole.

When it comes to DEI I think that your heart is in the right place - this is all about economic justice and if there were better ways to account for that it'd be an excellent thing to correct for (though, imo, the better correction would be to ensure all children had a genuinely equal chance at success). Unfortunately, because America has a long history of racism, race and poverty are strongly correlated.

The other half of DEI is that people tend to hire like. It's a deep social flaw but we need to acknowledge it - white men will tend to hire white men, a company composed entirely of black women will tend to hire black women... we have studies. Most entrenched wealth is held by white men and so white men have an inherent advantage in employment.

The last thing I'd highlight is that a rising tide raises all ships - your assumption that immigration causes an expansion of poverty usually hasn't been born out. In capitalism more people means more labor means more innovation means more wealth - there are some limits around resources but we're not near any hard limits in that regard.

  • There's a helpful mnemonic for 9/11

Remember, remember the eleventh of September.

  • Doggy is a pretty damn cute name for the meme

  • ;_; but I pronounce it that way - like the old Venetian head of state.

  • I'm still fucking bitter that the meme Elon latched onto was Doge. I fucking loved that meme and hate that it now has ties to fucking fascism.

  • China hasn't managed to memory hole Tianamen Square - we're not going to fucking forget January 6th.

  • It sadly doesn't appear to be.

  • A really fucking long ethernet cable.

  • If you study hard in school you can do anything.

  • It's kind of hilarious since that's literally them just offering to punch themselves in the nuts for street cred.

  • Oh, you must be looking for dragonsfuckingcars.

  • He's also currently running both Tesla and X into the ground... and he'd probably run SpaceX into the ground if it didn't start off with incredibly passionate and intelligent people.

  • I've moved and become Canadian... but I was born American and raised in it.

I love the shit out of quality marzipan.

  • And always has been. He's a snake oil salesman who has never built a product someone wants to buy in his life. When his creativity is given room (aka the Cybertruck) it's overwhelmingly unsuccessful.

His start was in PayPal where he was just a money guy with stupid ideas that kept getting shot down. It's why he owns x.com he'd wanted to rebrand PayPal to X after the PayPal brand became well entrenched (which was an absolutely awful idea).

  • I would have assumed he just never paid any of it and eventually the courts said "Well fuck, we'd feel awful if we actually sent the repo man to the Whitehouse, let's just let him off the hook."

  • Yea, I saw C style and was disappointed when it didn't abuse gotos.

  • The US already has a large base in Greenland and if the US actually sent in marines to conquer Greenland there's fuck all Greenland could do about it with such short notice. This measure may just make the dumb orange man happy and it gives Denmark time to assemble an actual multilateral response (France is already on board but that's not enough).

I don't know why you'd consider getting another country to spend a lot of money in your country to be bending the knee. These US soldiers will have to follow the local laws (or cause a massive disruption) just like those already there and the extended military presence won't significantly impact the ability for Greenland to resist.

Trump lost the tariff exchange. Canada said "We'll appoint a border czar sure", Mexico got a lot of border funding they wanted anyways... and Greenland is in a pretty impossible situation but managed to stall any disaster.

  • Just to clarify the intent of my last sentence... "google" has become a verb and alphabet has way too much power. I tend to use "Bing it" sarcastically because they'll never be a serious competitor in the search space and fuck Google.

  • I don't know why this keeps being echoed as a significant point when generative AI as a replacement for web searches is almost (excepting those with a stake in AI) universally viewed as a terrible idea.

    Bing that shit or whatever.
