  • We went from mass surveillance to hardware confiscation real quick.

These companies are so large that they don’t need the consumer market anymore. The consumer is now the competition. They can essentially purchase the entire planet’s output of computing hardware years in advance to force us out of the market and lease it back to us at inflated rates. Then, they turn all that tensor compute against us to make everyone’s life a living digital surveillance hell.

Forget Internet freedom, computational liberty is now at risk. Who needs all that expensive legal and technological architecture to steal your data, report on you to the government, and enforce DRM when they control bare metal access to your rented corporate cloud hardware because consumer PC equipment is too astronomically expensive to afford for the average person?

We need to elevate the prosecution of anti-trust to the level of religious inquisition, and burn these companies at the stake. They’re using AI to literally enslave humanity, and it’s working.

  • People call me paranoid, but after my dad’s MS Surface spontaneously encrypted itself and lost the recovery keys, my belief is that what you described is the goal they are working towards.

Apple already does all of this along with client side scanning and MS is falling over itself to implement the same ecosystem.

  • An invasion of Greenland, which is an overseas territory of Denmark, could trigger a NATO response under Article 5 of the organization's charter.

Welp, time to start digging a bomb shelter. In this mad dash to return to the pre-WWII era of imperialism, it feels like our leaders don’t remember that right after that there was a really nasty world war.

  • Greenland is an autonomous territory of Denmark, one of the founding members of NATO along with the US.

Article 5 of the North Atlantic Treaty states that an armed attack against one NATO member shall be considered an attack against all members, and triggers an obligation for each member to come to its assistance.

Attacking, invading, operating in, or otherwise taking military action against Greenland will at best destabilize and delegitimize NATO, and at worst prompt a full military response from NATO member states against the United States Military, the largest and most powerful armed force in history several times over, with a budget an order of magnitude larger than the rest of the world combined.

I cannot overstate how horrifically, hilariously bad this would be:

    • It would begin an escalating conflict that would give China the perfect distraction to invade Taiwan, and remove the support that Ukraine desperately requires to continue defending against Russia.
    • To avoid war, Denmark and NATO would be forced to concede and appease Trump as Chamberlain did with Hitler, further emboldening Trump, Putin, and Xi Jinping to continue their totalitarian regimes and campaigns which literally amount to no less than cartoonishly evil total world domination.
    • In full scale conflict, NATO states would be faced with a losing battle in which their only recourse would quickly become the use of nuclear weapons.

This absolutely cannot happen. Our only window to stop the Trump regime’s utterly Fascist-with-a-capital-F designs by conventional political means is rapidly closing. Once the American military is in Denmark without their consent, my advice is to start looking at options for your own survival of WWIII.

  • I’m a little more worried about the part where he causes WWIII.

  • The TPU is not for you, it’s for tech companies to surveil, train, and exfiltrate your data at every level of the stack from hardware to application in a “secure” fashion. The “features” they proscribe feel forced because they are - they exist to make it seem like you’re getting the next new thing, when really the features that you actually want (like an ad-free experience and a local Windows account) have been so enshitified to hell that they functionally no longer exist.

    • The hardware manufacturer gets to sell you extra hardware you don’t want.
    • The OS vendor gets to run classification on all of your pictures, documents, and software.
    • The browser vendor gets to see every site you visit and when, every product you buy, and every porn site you watch.
    • Then, it all gets trained into a personal model that is cryptographically tied to your hardware and identity that can be queried at any time by tech companies, data brokers, advertisers, and law enforcement.

What YOU get is to ask a finders-fee-biased chatbot which product to buy, maybe some shitty mental health care, and a sycophantic buddy to patronize your ego. AI is the ultimate surveillance and advertising device.

  • Why would a retailer turn down an additional resource that drives customers to their site?

Amazon also rolled out a "Buy for Me" feature last year that surfaces products from other brands' websites and lets shoppers complete purchases without leaving the Amazon app.

    Ah, that’s why.

  • Once, in a rather affluent California town, I was stopped with the front of my car halfway in the bike lane so I could view oncoming traffic from the left, in order to pull out. I watched for several seconds as a man on a bike road straight towards me and accidentally ran into my stationary car. There was no damage, and he was unharmed.

I rolled down my window to apologize, as my car was technically in the bike lane. When I did so, this man scowled at me as if I had slapped his mother, and rode off in a huff.

I suppose the moral of this story is that anyone can be an asshole, but try extra hard to not be an asshole when you’re in the machine that can kill.

  • Miller to CNN Host Jake Tapper:

“We live in a world, in the real world, Jake, that is governed by strength, that is governed by force, that is governed by power,” he said. “These are the iron laws of the world since the beginning of time.”

Stephen Miller is a sociopath, a fascist and a deeply insecure wannabe bully with a massive inferiority complex, second only to Trump.

Make no mistake: This is it, the fascist and authoritarian takeover that history has been warning us about for 80 years. It’s back. These people will do everything in their power to make this happen, and they mean what they say. Greenland and Canada are already boosting defense spending. The world is gearing up for war in response to the belligerent Hitler-like threats from Trump and Putin.

It will be almost impossible to prevent the use of nuclear weapons in a third world war. If Trump and the neo-fascist Republican Party are not removed from power soon, they will attempt to take over our half of the world. China will take Taiwan, and Putin will shoot for Europe after support for Ukraine wanes. When they’re finished, they’ll all turn on each other.

That is where this kind of naked violence-is-the only-true-power kind of logic leads.

  • The social-media-conspiracy-to-federal-policy pipeline is becoming suspiciously short.

  • Surely you can’t be serious about this daycare fraud!

“I am serious, and don’t call me Shirley. Also, I never have sex.”

  • Badum.

  • Shorts are deliberately and effectively addictive. Once Google found out they could copy the TikTok paradigm without being sued, they forced it down everyone's throat. Ever wonder why you can't disable shorts? Because they KNOW it's addictive. We are being farmed.

YouTube is a vital tool for news and information. It should be NATIONALIZED, and purposefully exploitative technology like shorts should be BANNED.

  • A student challenged Dr. McCoul, saying, “I’m not entirely sure this is legal to be teaching because, according to our president, there’s only two genders.”

Good lord, is this the level of civics proficiency that Texas A&M students possess?
