  • A woman had a seizure on the sidewalk. I kept her in the recovery position (she was already on her side) and managed to slip a bag under her head because she kept banging it on the ground. Called 911. Figured everything was as good as it could be given situation, she wasn't going to hurt herself any further and help was coming.

    Then a cop walked up and tried to pull her onto her back while I was trying to keep her on her side. I yelled to back off, he yelled back, argued with me about whether I witnessed a seizure, I refused to let him touch her, EMTs arrived shortly after.

    Fuck cops.

  • Man, I feel the same way. I didn't self advocate and didn't have the self respect to find good partners through my 20's. Now I'm loud as fuck and healthier for it.

  • Same! One cup of coffee in the morning is more a routine than a need, and I barely touch alcohol unless it's a special occasion. I cook 99% of my own food from fresh ingredients and go for daily walks.

    My thirties are awesome, I spent most of my twenties with undiagnosed crippling pain and ADHD. Now I'm on the right meds and feel great.

    I wake up naturally at 6-7am, happy and healthy.

  • Doctors are idiots. I have no idea how many I've gone through by now to get my diagnoses. There have been whole studies on how doctors are more dismissive of women as well.

    I don't do anything for my energy levels except eat healthy, normal food. One thing I do notice is the more I work out, the more I want to work out over time. If I don't start my day with some kind of activity or go for a walk at some point, I'm less active and cognizant later in the evening.

  • And it took me twelve years to get treatment for andometriosis after monthtly crippling pain. It took me another seven for an ADHD diagnosis. Doctors are mostly shit, especially to women.

    You want support for this? Fine. But stop phrasing it like it's a normal part of aging as a woman.

  • You keep posting this and everyone keeps saying it's not normal. It is a big deal. I'm over 30 and I kayak, hike, have infinite hobbies and still take courses in my spare time on everything from writing to chemistry to french. My friends are the same.

    Find another doctor, and if that one doesn't solve it, find another doctor, and stop posting this. It's shitty to assume women are supposed to fall apart after thirty.

  • To be fair the instance drama was unusually exciting in the fallout of the ban list.

    But anyway. I got my ideal experience by joining .today, which doesn't block any instances, and only browsing my subscribed. It only took about an hour to get a solid list built up, one that I add to when I see things recommended or in the community promo groups. The front page of my feed is usually memes, comics, art and tech news.

  • I went on a first date with a guy who lied about what he did and his height, which was ridiculous because I don't care about either. My requirements are: stable-ish, chill and interesting to talk to.

    At the time I was writing for a tech company that dabbled in cryptocurrency - and I am not here to debate anything about cryptocurrency. Just... please don't. It was a job.

    Point is, I knew quite a bit about it, even used it for a few things. I mentioned blockchain once, as a joke about something, and he launched into a tirade. I mentioned it was part of my work, that I found it interesting... Nope! That began a solid ten minutes of him mansplaining to me about how I was wrong because he knew SO MUCH about it.

    The kicker? He didn't know the difference between bitcoin and blockchain.

    Oh, but the actual worst one was the guy I never met, thank goodness, because he threatened to kill himelf then me when I said I was too busy to chat.
