  • The Brave company is a far right hate group and Brave users are supporters of far right hate.

Fuck Brendan Eich and his henchman and all they stand for.

  • I think one way is to make people realize that there is a concept in copyright called Threshold of Originality, meaning that because machine generated output in itself is not creative work, it's not copyrightable. You can do literally anything with it, the licenses attached don't matter. The GPL is not enforceable and no proprietary EULA is enforceable.

  • If you really think that FreeBSD whose developers often use Macs on desktop is any different, think again. Maybe OpenBSD but certainly not FreeBSD.

  • So? I'm just pointing out which lame duck speeds are considered super speed in Trumpistan.

  • P.S. Most of the Autobahn has a speed limit

And where there isn't, around 160kph is cruising speed for regular cars (not trucks). People in a hurry drive 200kph legally where possible all the time. It's really not uncommon. 178kph on a highway is not super speed.

  • that speed is not legal anywhere in the world.

Objectively wrong. I drive that fast completely legally regularly in Germany.

  • If he resigned only now, he didn't resign before. What is there to check? That is common sense. Linus allowed LLM use and he was fine with Debian building on it. After all, all LLM use is literal fascism in his eyes.

  • Weird that he didn't care when Linus Torvalds adopted basically the same policy to the kernel that serves as the foundation of the main Debian distribution. I have an inkling that there is more going on at Debian, not LLM use alone.

  • Can you suggest an alternative?

Use Firefox, install uBlock Origin and enable all filter lists as well as https://filterlists.com/lists/bypass-paywalls-clean-filter and install Cookie AutoDelete extension to clear number of visits to a website (for "you already read 3 free articles, subscribe now" things).

Doesn't work everywhere but does work for The Verge and Telegraph.

  • When I packaged software, I did RPM for Fedora and openSUSE (because that's what I used at that time) but out of curiosity I looked at .deb as well and boy are there weird things there.

There are many similarities between RPM and pkgbuild for Arch, so I could easily copy almost entire pkgbuilds from AUR and merely adapt a few variables but whatever the inventors of .deb concocted is crazy. Archives within archives and other stuff I actively repressed memories of.

  • I don't see the problem. For years I've used the public Open Build Service instance at openSUSE to package and publish software for openSUSE and Fedora (never cared for Debian/Ubuntu because I packaged the software only for my own use but it's possible).

  • Only for people who don't use proper web browsers with a proper ad blocker.

  • Looks like Firefox with a theme

  • 178.6 kph

So slightly above regular Autobahn cruising speed, definitely not super speed.

  • There are worse things than copyrights not mattering anymore.

  • if you think the US or its corporate overlords are better

Trump is scum but even a deeply flawed democracy is better than genocidal Chinese dictatorship.

You're paying for AI by your own admission. You're part of the problem.

  • I’m really thinking I should just give my money to DeepSeek or Kimi

Sure, fund Chinese gulags for Uigurs then. 100% improvement in morality...

  • Brave is the money generator of a far right hate group. Fuck Brendan Eich, fuck their ad replacement scam, fuck everything Brave.
