Hello. I've been silenced, removed and blocked enough on lemmy dot ml for being a filthy leftist but not a falling in line defending totalitarian states full blown authoritarian communist. Sooo I'm blocking everything from lemmy dot ml so I don't have to be bothered with any more of that nonsense. If you are on lemmy dot ml and commenting on me I will not see it. Ta ta.

  • Honestly I'm happy the Fediverse doesn't have the Reddit user base. I'd rather try recruiting people from various forums on specific topics to the Fediverse. Like homebrewing (alcoholic beverages) is still happening in independent web forums that I think would be neat if they got federated, but I don't think they in turn are interested in a Fediverse user base.

  • Yeah, thanks. I did it a couple of times with the free web dev vm of Windows 10 but it is only valid for 30 days so it gets annoying quickly. After identifying the chipset in some devices I've tried to get the Linux toolkit or just the flashing tool from the manufacturers but for whatever reason they will not give it out unless you are a customer of their chipset.

  • Wouldn't this rather be the case of proxy hardware layer for any driver to talk to that gets forwarded to the USB port in Linux? I mean the drivers are not for PC component but for talking with whatever device and chipset is connected to the PC over USB.

    For the good and bad you get faster over time snapping them open with your teeth and separating the shell and the kernel in an optimized motion.

  • I absolutely love nuts, but plenty of them are very dense in energy. Not to discourage from nuts because they are healthy though in moderation and I could easily empty any size bag of pistachios without thinking about it.

  • Any idea about USB drivers if it will ever be possible? I have synths and gear that needs firmware upgrades with flashers that only run on Win/Mac and I haven't been able to get them to work with Wine.

  • When I used to go out and walk home at night and some lady walking the same way, I'd make sure to walk a little louder and just one step slower than her so the distance was slowly increasing. If she looked anxious I'd even whistle a merry tune or something else ridiculous so she could more easily approximate the distance without having to look around.

    My idea was to signal that I am harmless, have no intent of interaction, and finally that there is somebody else around that diminishes the risks of her being jumped by some hidden assailant.

    If there was a dude ahead of me that looked nervous or did the stiff muscle up walking I'd happily do the same.

    I've always looked a little burly and rarely felt afraid for myself so I'm glad if I can share my privilege.
