I am not going to say this is a perfect tactic though because for me someone micromanaging my life and forces me to be physically active would backfire so hard. But in theory all of those are textbook ways to deal with depression, healthy body and mind, structured lifestyle…
Havent we been making jokes about dumb ai in games for literal decades before llms came along?
The thing is i want my npcs to be a curated combination of things:
environmental awareness, be aware of the dragon in the room, still have scripted interactions but triggered by detecting more complex environmental changes.
More dynamic dialogue options like tone of voice changing depending on wether earlier dialogue made them angry.
Reacting to the player fighting in a sensible way.
Still all coded and developed with human passion but to appropriately incorporate ai into more complex detecting/reacting/interacting mechanics.
Instead what nvidia (who dictates the game industry now) cares about is a “chatbot module” that they can sell to game engines (like unreal) so lazy developers can turn digital objects into a character ai persona.
Somehow the moment llms became able to impress we stopped caring about all the other 99% that is ai that isn’t a conversation simulator.
Both this and the opposite example where the CMO declares the captain unfit but the rest of the crew are still loyal and follow the captain as i I believe actually happened to Janeway.
I also think that any bridge officier ranks above CMO to become captain in an emergency situation. So they would need to discharge all bridge officers and trust that they will all comply in order to become captain themselves.
I read multiple bibles as a young kid not for religious reasons but because i was bored.
I did not fully comprehend that jaweh was the god from our church or that i was supposed to read them as facts. In some parts i was sure he was just the main villain.
To be more technical correct, all ideals go out of the window the moment a shareholder pushes a little.
Apple has been one of the wealthiest countries for years, they don't need money, they can’t be doing this just for money.
They are doing it, to get more money yes, but only in order to make the angle of a line go up so they can sell a comfortable illusion to the people keeping them in charge of the available unimaginable mass of wealth already there.
I am so glad i decided to pursue video game development as higher education rather then a scientific field.
Granted the illusions in games are gone, every game is now a dull collection of mechanics and The gap between what modern games are snd how i know they could be is depressingly vast.
But at least i can still enjoy hour long deep dives into quantum mechanics and golden ratio. Definitely a good tradeoff.
Older content is rapidly disappearing/getting less accessible. Especially non english content. Shout out to do your part in legally archiving digital media from public libraries.
At the same time new media is pushed build on Existing mega franchises, everything is the same format with the same formula with no higher goal then the profit-margin.
online:
is a different story because google owns it. They decide how youtube presents content to users, what do’s and don’ts get punished or get you recommended more.
Again no goal higher then the profit margin,1 ad for a 30 minute video is not as efficient as 1 every so many shorts. And because shorts are more random and your just consuming the flos its harder to tell the ads apart.
Because shorts are optimised on phone, google also rules how 50% of people use their phone it pushes more people to this more exploitative and less ad blockade device.
Good content still exists, its just a lot harder to find because promoting it is less profitable.
Their is a word for this kind of things falling apart to chase profit. Its enshitification.
I like to use dashes myself but the combination of overuse with other tells often does make me suspicious.
Which isn’t bad, even an intellectual can write things wrong, as ai can also write things right. Always read critically.
I didn’t think dashes where out of place here, but i did get a real ai vibe of the last paragraph. Is this something Bernie is really considering or is something to round up a generated list of scary scenarios. (Which are all existing valid concerns still)
People have hooked up scripts to automate trade based on celebrities using certain hashtags or other data for years.
A non insignificant portion of people has absolutely hooked up an ai to it. I don't know any, but i take that bet in a heartbeat.
Some will do it responsibly, as an experiment with money they are prepared to loose.
Ai companies themselves might try this as an internal test, like how atrophic has claude managing a real vending machine (which got manipulated into selling tungsten cubes following customer feedback)
Others have probably completely destroyed their own lives. A few may have lucked out.
