  • Given that its CEO has some serious issues with democracy, I can't say that I care one iota which language abomination is powering his empire.

  • All of them.

  • May I ask what you do with the failures?

  • Until just now I'd never heard of Leon Black, seems he's never heard of the Streisand effect.

I wonder who else is hidden away in the Epstein files.

  • A great many lawyers have earned eye watering fortunes arguing the case on behalf of their clients and thus far "fair" does not appear to be a consideration.

Ultimately I think that your question is more about the fabric of society despite the framing in terms of copyright.

  • Yeah, I've been looking for alternatives for several years now. I'm hoping that the European digital currency efforts will translate into something that will facilitate global creator income, but it's unclear how far away that is or what the reality might be.

  • What a shitshow .. but not unexpected given the utter lack of enforcement this privacy aspect of our lives has.

At one time I started cataloging the absurd required permissions that essential mobile applications have, things like banking, telecom, utilities, government and many others.

The sheer volume of data harvesting behind the scenes is mind boggling.

  • Liberapay uses Stripe and PayPal as their payment processor.

OpenCollective appears to use PayPal and Wise as their payment processor.

  • Also for Australian users.

Edit: Hmm, it's the search results for "Lake Ontario" that return "Lake America" spam, the underlying map currently shows "Lake Ontario" here in Australia.

  • Charge back is only available on credit cards, debit transactions are "negotiated" between account holders.

  • For how much data?

  • What are you using to get it there and back?

I'm asking because I had been using this for years and only after a catastrophic event, discovered that my "helpful" backup software had turned on versioning which AWS, also helpfully, doesn't explicitly tell you when you attempt to delete old backup sets, showing no objects but charging you anyway.

I did recover all my data after a catastrophic event, but it was an expensive experience to put it mildly.

  • Stripe and PayPal are both used by Liberapay as their payment processor, both of which have a track record of holding funds and blocking accounts without any due process or right of dispute.

    AFAIK ko-fi uses Stripe.

Paying for food using crypto, let alone picking the "right" one seems like another dead end.

  • AFAIK, getting actual money into and more importantly, out of Crypto, to pay for things like food, not to mention picking one, is "non-trivial".

As for IBAN/SWIFT, that's like publishing your bank account details online which has a whole lot of other risks associated with it, least of which is people supplying your details to a charity of their choice.

  • Hmm .. "escaping" .. you mean like say an internet worm or a virus?

Can't wait to hear the next startup venture capital pitch:

"We're like the Ghostbusters of AI"

  • I'd be surprised if you can't just ship it with UPS or FedEx.

I wouldn't trust Australia Post, they can't even ship a box of crockery across the country without it crossing the nullarbor five times.

  • AFAIK Liberapay uses Stripe and PayPal as their payment processor.

  • elementary OS should really just move away from them

    To where?

  • You might already know this, but one word to look into: hypermobility

    Source: I am also bendy.

This project uses Docker to create an environment where you can run containers on a remote host, in such a way that your local working directory is visible to the container and optionally use X11.
