  • This is the major reason for me. I really liked yaml, because it is way more readable to me than JSON. But then I kept finding new and more confusing yaml features and have realized how over-engineered it is.

Yaml would be great language if it had its features prunned heavy.

  • Is this a threat? 🤔

  • Is rsync.net a good service for backups?

  • Isn't github used only as the auth provider? It is not using any git features, just leaning on the security guarantees of github. I don't find this too alarming.

If you want, you can use git links when declaring dependencies in Cargo.toml. So alternative to crates.io is basically any git host already!

  • Empty commit message. Yes it's possible. Yes it's as bad as the cli tries to prevent it

  • Because it looks like Python?

  • I strongly believe that code formatting does not hold any information and that because of it, compilers should reject non-normalized code, saying "run a formatter first". We have the tooling for most of the languages to make this absolutely painless, remove all head scratching of "what the hell is up with this code style" and just focus of the semantics. I believe that you should be allowed to produce code abominations like this code sample and have it auto-formatted into the code style that everyone can easily interpret.
