  • We don't have to talk about this as a nebulous concept, there are groups that work to run progressives everywhere and they are currently seeing a surge in interest. We can get to work today

For instance, Run For Something supports progressives under 40 year-old both in primaries and general elections. They have had 26 thousand people sign up for them to run for local and state office since November alone. Jasmine Crockett came through the Run for Something pipeline, so this is not some hypothetical that doesn't get results. They've gotten thousands of progressives elected at the local and state level, we can ramp that up. Consider running for state & local office yourself and encourage any progressive you know to run as well

Groups like Indivisible are also putting pressure on both Republicans and Dems and starting to get some degrees of success. For instance, they have gotten senate Dems to start using unanimous consent to slow down senate nominees like Russel Vought and RFK (they held the floor for the maximum 30 hours too)

You will always hear 10x more about the losses than the wins, but please know this is a fight we can win. There are people putting in the work and we can all join them

  • Keep pushing and putting pressure. This is a sign that Trump (or more likely people close to Trump) are starting to see the pressure as more serious. He's seeing backlash from lawsuits & the courts, federal worker unions, protests and people getting loud as hell at Republican town halls, etc.

Don't take their word as truth here instead take it as a sign they might actually be starting to see him as a threat to their power / approval

  • There being cracks is a motivation to act. It's a point to apply pressure, not a reason to stop

Things don't get better by magic, no, they get better when we stand up

  • “That’s a shame,” Walz said, responding to the GOP news. “If your Republican representative won’t meet with you because their agenda is so unpopular, maybe a Democrat will.”

“Hell, maybe I will,” he continued in a post on social platform X. “If you congressman refuses to meet, I’ll come host an event in their district to help local Democrats beat ‘em.”

  • Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances

1st ammendment to the constitution since conservatives love to claim they support it

  • They're deliberately misinterpreting some orders, but they aren't fully ignoring the courts at the moment. They still fear the courts. We've got to use every tool we can to fight back. The courts are one tool, we should use them

They've complied with important court orders recently. Don't take any outcome for granted until it happens. Otherwise we just doom and spread the apathy that Trump and Musk want us to have

    For instance,

Gov. Josh Shapiro Says Over $2 Billion of Federal Funding Is Unfrozen for Pennsylvania

  • If the majority of those given that specifc question say so, then yes

If the majority given it say no, then no

    There's no predefined answer here

One of creators of the captchas said in an interview that they themselves were never sure about the edges and if they should include it or not

  • It's based on whatever the majority of humans using captcha say. They ask multiple question on the captcha. Some are testing you on. Some they don't know and give to multiple people to figure out which boxes should be selected

  • They came close to blocking it here and the fight isn't over

There are still more votes on this budget. For instance, the senate and house republican versions are not all the same, so things will have be rectified between those giving another future vote to block it

Republican majorities are small in the house. A couple absent republicans is enough to make things fail. Another no vote or two because of some minor reason is enough to block things

  • None. Not only that but one dem who just gave birth came back earlier than expected just to vote against it

Another dem also was in recovery from surgery and went to congress just to vote against it

  • Don't do Trump's work for him by spreading apathy and dispair. He wants us complacent and to forget the power we have. He is far weaker than he seems so he has to project absolute power. Don't give anything to him for free

  • Local and state officals can enforce laws on their own without federal involvement

Assuming everything is doomed to fail is exactly what Trump and Musk want from you. They want you to stop fighting or trying because you might realize they are weaker than you think. Don't do their work for them

  • The state and local is where most of the progress is going to happen in the next 4 years. They control a lot more than you think - even including running elections for federal office. Pay attention to all your local elections - they are going to matter a lot

EDIT: While I'm here, going to mention there are local elections in some localities across the US tomorrow (feb 25th) in parts of California, Connecticut, Iowa, Illinois, Kansas, & Maine

Here's a substack post with more info about those local elections

  • Musk's net worth is largely tied to Tesla's market cap. Most of his wealth is in those shares

Make the brand extremely toxic and start affecting the share price. People are investing in the company not for logical reasons, but primarily emotional ones. People seeing mass anger and protest of Teslas hit the emotion part

  • Look up the 50501 movement that this nationwide economic blackout is a part of. They also have a next nationwide protest planned for Mar 4th

    https://www.fiftyfifty.one/

  • In general sure, but I don't think so in this particular case. I really don't think this one was that planned out considering they also sent these to judges who aren't part of the executive branch at all (probably just because they have a .gov email). Many people in Trump's admin have been reportedly finding out critical info via tweet, so the level of coordination here is often not high. In the actual email, there is no remark about "not firing equals resigning" (that's only what musk said on twitter) and their legal filings for privacy & security stuff claim that responding to all the mass opm emails is optional.

Given Musk's ego, I doubt he'd design something that makes him look weak like this.

  • Rather than just waiting for it to happen, we can put the pressure to make it happen. Groups like Indivisible are putting pressure on Dems to step up more and Republicans to step up at all

They pressure is starting to change dem's actions. They have started using more aggressively using some procedural tools to slow down senate confirmations (can't fully block without republican votes). For instance, they denied unanimous consent and held the floor for the 30 hours against Russel Vought (and I believe RFK too)
