I like computers, trains, space, radio-related everything and a bunch of other tech related stuff. User of GNU+Linux.I am also dumb and worthless.My laptop is ThinkPad L390y running Arch.I own RTL-SDRv3 and RSP1 clone.

  • OH, speaking of egg cartons. The larger ones (30 eggs) if clean make a pretty good laptop cooling pad. If you want to use laptop on a bed, this is the way (cheaply).

  • So I just tried Firefox Nightly. Seems to work fine now. I actually had to disable automatic font scaling, otherwise it was funky (something too large, something too small). The desktop mode toggle is in Settings -> Site settings on top. "Always request desktop site" was on by default on my phone (possibly related to custom high DPI setting).

  • Yep, I've got Fennec installed. But only Firefox nightly had... I don't remember what. Probably desktop-like tabs. I forgot.

    But Firefox still has issues with scaling desktop sites which Opera does perfectly. Well, actually, Firefox does too in desktop mode. I think the only thing I am missing is permanent desktop mode. When I only changed UA, I had the scaling issues.

    Well, I just checked since I updated Fennec yesterday because I had leftover data. The toggle seems to be there now. But the tabs don't show up desktop-style. I should re-check Firefox Nightly. I think that toggle was the only missing thing for me.

  • Firefox. It was the default in Linux Mint when I first started using a computer, and I am used to it. (Yep, I started with Linux.)

    On my phone, shamefully Opera. It's the best for desktop web experience. I don't like mobile websites.

    One of the rules we laid down was to plug your phone in outside your room before you go to bed.

    Sorry, just some small note. Charging to 100% daily significantly shortens the battery lifespan. Staying between 20 - 80% is generally recommended.But to be honest, if I still had a phone with user replaceable battery I'd just 100% it too. I mean, the battery for my Galaxy Ace is like €6.

    Anyway, I've got some USB tester from AliExpress that also has a time limit. I can usually nail that near 80%. There's also some physical Bluetooth charge limiters, though that of course requires their app.

    Irrelevant if your phone has built-in charge limiter.

    But yeah, anyway, how you did it sounds fine.

    Edit: Although theoretically, it probably could be done without an app. Bluetooth can share battery charge info.

    Anyway, if you have directory-based music organization, Navidrome won't take that, sadly. However, it will take m3u playlists.

    So I can just ls playlistdir/* > Playlist.m3u and get that directory as a playlist. Simple, lazy solution.Oh, you can also add internet radios to Navidrome.

    And one cool trick, which is also pretty good to test out Navidrome without effort, in Termux it is already in the repos, so you can just effort-free apt install navidrome, run it and play around.

    Anyway, I doubt most people would get violent. Most people aren't just held back by laws, but morality. People would probably just be trying all kinds of drugs mostly, racing, trespassing and breaking into places. What better time for exploring some abandoned buildings, or staff-only areas.You'd probably find me in a train depot, probably taking pictures and trying to figure out how to get one of the engines running. If that area wasn't guarded of course.Alternatively, I'd probably steal a bus. Or a semi truck. Just temporarily. I don't have a drivers license, but I want to try driving that.Hmm, I might take a bicycle to the airport. I doubt people would risk flying, and it would probably be the emptiest area for cycling.

  • I mean, I don't really know, I don't plan to have kids and this is just one of the things that just feel like there is no right answer.

    As for playful way, well... I am a monster. Some offline device with downloaded manuals (including Arch wiki), explanations of key parts of Linux and some basic networking, computer without OS, Arch Linux installer USB, and network connection possibly without DHCP server (with known network info).And there you go. Figure it out. Archinstall should make it easy.

  • Except that the alarm got killed by the phone's battery optimizer. I am using a 2011 smartphone as an alarm because of this. But Poco and Ulefone are definitely not the highest quality brands.
