This is actually one of my favorite websites to browse on desktop through my VPN and extreme DNS blocking solution. The console just fills with blocked content and JavaScript errors, it really warms my heart.
I have a smart thermostat, lights and sensors everywhere and absolutely love it. They’re all automated (along with things like heaters, fans) to adjust themselves on variables like indoor/outdoor temperature, which door(s) is open, is the sun up or down, etc. It’s actually pretty fantastic (in my opinion).
But I agree that devices like laundry machines maybe don’t need any of these features.
Is it Apple’s fault that there are only two major operating systems for smartphones? Can’t the same be said about computers? Sure there’s Linux but why doesn’t anyone care about macOS doing basically the same proprietary things as iOS?
It’s like everyone wants a cut of their profits simply because they’re successful.
I 100% agree. I’m so sick of Apple being attacked in the European market. Look, I love open source software but I don’t want my phone running a bunch of shit that couldn’t even make into the App Store.
What are you all doing with your phones that you need to put them in cases? I feel like this is the equivalent of covering a high-end car in bumper stickers.
I absolutely love doing everything on the computer and can’t stand writing things by hand anymore. I’ve always learned simply by listening — instructors that force students to take notes were the worst because I would be too busy scrambling to write things down than actually listening and learning.
All of this goes out the window when it comes to foreign language though. I have to do everything old school: textbooks, pencil and paper, and if it’s a non-Latin character set I have to write the same characters over and over for hours.
