  • I don’t know if it is considered boutique, but Five Guys and Smash Burger are top in my book. If you’re only counting drive up availability, In-n-out.

  • I don’t have any wisdom, but as somebody whose back took me out of commission for a few years before I got some prosthetic discs, I just want to tell you I’m sorry you face this suffering. Being injured while wanting to work is the worst; even worse than the pain. I hope you find a path to comfort and happiness.

  • I have no problem with somebody even more of a nobody becoming president. In fact, it may be ideal. And he is pretty intelligent. What I do have a problem with is the support of Zionism, and that is enough to curtail all support.

  • And “the kids”.

  • How is that not being a nitpicker? From the MW usage guide.

The distinction between hanged and hung is not an especially useful one (although a few commentators claim otherwise). It is, however, a simple one and certainly easy to remember. Therein lies its popularity. If you make a point of observing the distinction in your writing, you will not thereby become a better writer, but you will spare yourself the annoyance of being corrected for having done something that is not wrong.

They were used completely interchangeably for centuries and still are to some extent. ¯(ツ)

  • Mead making. Good quality time with my wife, and we get to drink it, so… what’s not to love?

  • Yeah that is a good way to frame it. Makes sense. It does say something about their ethos.

  • I’ve really been enjoying this today. Neat project.

  • I get it, but determining and moreso verifying code is mostly generated is so intractable that this will likely not do anything practically. Well, perhaps it will discourage some disclosure.

  • Several such repositories very similar. I’m thinking some strange encoding for using it as remote storage of some sort.

  • The speed my pupper jumped up to come get his morning loving from me when I said “good morning” made me feel happy. We have a routine where he puts his head in my lap for neck massage then I check his eyes for sleepy stuff before anything else. It brings us both joy. Dogs will change one’s life.

  • Yeah, that’s not how KEXP works.

  • Public universities were in many cases free following WW2. But the generation made use of that, then pulled the ladders up in typical “I got mine. Fuck everybody else,” boomer fashion.

  • What does “radio music” mean?

  • What are you on about? They suggested checking out KEXP for people looking for new music. Don’t see anybody claiming it is Spotify.

  • What’s not to be serious about? KEXP is a well known source for tons of great music, including up and comers, and their sound engineers are unparalleled.

  • Sometimes, but generally not. If I listen to anything, it'll often be something that has no lyrics or is just ambiance, like Enterprise engineering or warp core background. But I ALWAYS wear earphones, just so people know I'm not taking walk-ups at the moment.

  • I use mise-en-place for this same sort of thing. Many of my shared workflows demand a certain contract be satisfied including things like providing artifact coordinates, mise tasks (build, publish, etc.). One can also use mise to specify the runtime versions to simplify local build and test and ci using the same runtimes.

Of course, there is no best solution, since this is a "how long is a piece of string" sort of question.

  • I get what you’re saying, but external validation is how most primates ensure they’re being good members and stewards of their communities. This is important social behavior. It shouldn’t supersede one’s own values though.
