  • Recommended 3d printer models?

  • A 3D printer is a tool first and foremost.

    These days outside of poorly designed fire hazards any model you can get will be good.

    For my two cents avoid the following traps.

    • all plastic construction. Looks nice but assume you will need to service it at some point.
    • no spare parts available. Basically go on Amazon and type “print bed for model of printer” and if you find nothing it’s not getting parts or service.

    What to get then. Brands are fickle so these are the features I look for.

    • thermal run away protection. If it doesn’t have the run away yourself.
    • heated bed. Helps with adhesion
    • removable build plate. Easy service and since the build plate is consumable good to have
    • auto bed leveling. It’s not 2018 and manual leveling is a waste of time.
    • direct drive extruders. Bowden isn’t bad but if you want consistency direct drive really helps

    Brands I would recommend is Creatily since it’s a good budget machine (do research first their naming is crap) and Prusa since most machines are based off of theirs.

  • Good news is that there are alternative ways to download these books from Amazon for backup purposes. It’s not as straightforward but it’s doable.

    That said I will be refusing to buy from any storefront that doesn’t offer a way to download my books. Even adobe digital editions is a viable alternative.

  • My solution to this was to back up all my projects so I have a local copy, and move to FreeCAD. I'm tired of Autodesk changing the deal every year or so.

  • I read the manual for my cars radio. It has a max file size limit of like 256 songs or so per folder. But it can also accept 256 folders.

    So if your cars is anything like mine you can probably play your songs just by splitting them up into more folders.

  • Tbh running AMD isn’t easier. For my workload I needed OpenCL and when it wasn’t installed by default, and wasn’t apart of apt package manager. I had to follow a script which involves amdgpu and only having OpenCL install if I wanted my machine stable.

    Not the best experience.

    For Nvidia some distros have installers built in to handle it. Like Mint where it’s one click and a restart and I have everything.

  • I didn’t. I got a legit Windows 10 education edition and iso from my university when windows 10 came out. Along with windows 7 and xp

  • I know it won’t corrupt my data. I’ve just heard enough stories of a a windows update deleting grub that I didn’t want to risk it.

  • Nah, they usually don't have that any more. From what I'm told it's background noise for them to fall a sleep too. I'm also told they pay hundreds of dollars every month just to enjoy this.

  • I think we need to define TV.

    Tv in the sense of broadcast stations and shows. Haven’t touched that since 2008, DVDs and Streaming has everything I want.

    TV in the sense of a shared screen for everyone. Nah, still needed and can be better than ever thanks to streaming, both retail and… other sources (plex)
