  • Is it? What financial value does this generate for the world economy? How can this be marketed?

    Think before you speak.

  • Oh No

  • There is also something to the idea that people just read to escape their terrible reality, and it literally does not matter what it is. I once read the whole Twilight saga and I to this day cannot tell you more than 3 facts about it:

    • Girl dates a vampire
    • Something civil war
    • Werewolf falls in love with a baby
  • Oh No

  • whilst I agree that people should be able to point to at least 3 things they take away from a piece of media in order to not simply mindlessly consume it, I do respect that plot isn't always the highlight

  • So there's this kid that gets abducted by his parents dangerous cult, despite the best efforts of his aunt and uncle. He then plunders his dad's trust fund in a civil war within said cult, and then kills a political leader before deciding to be a cop

  • I like that though, the awkwardness feels real and intimate. If someone delivered a flawless speech I would just think that they deliver other speeches in the same manner for their soulless work presentations

  • Agreed. Normal bathroom soap is usually enough to clean and scent the pits. I just want something that will last a few hours before I do the same at bedtime.

72hrs with some strange chemical clogging up my sweat glands doesnt sound good, healthwise

  • it is normal, I just think its funny to suggest a romantic plot between the women to setup their husbands with each other

  • Mere childs play. The best coffee is a 2L bottle of pepsi evaporated under a rotary boiler that is then super cooled to concentrate to extract the caramel out of the caffeine, filtered through sheeps wool into a cup. Then add goats milk.

  • If I open up a pack of biscuits, and we each take turns eating a biscuit, AD says that there's a dominant strategy that can ensure that I eat the last biscuit. (e.g. there's only 1 biscuit; I win, or there's an odd number of biscuits; I win)

i.e. AD says you can rig games like this from the start

  • For anyone wondering what this is

Bertrand Russell coined an analogy: for any (even infinite) collection of pairs of shoes, one can pick out the left shoe from each pair to obtain an appropriate collection (i.e. set) of shoes; this makes it possible to define a choice function directly.

For an infinite collection of pairs of socks (assumed to have no distinguishing features such as being a left sock rather than a right sock), there is no obvious way to make a function that forms a set out of selecting one sock from each pair without invoking the axiom of choice

So mathematicians always make the assumption that they can make a set from an infinite list of other non-empty sets based on this hunch, rather than any concrete choice function. And then they build mansions on top of this foundation, and use it to score chicks and ferraris, smh

  • oh! gosh I forget the post for the thread

  • Oh fuck yeah:

  • if this is a reference to something, I'm more than interested to hear

  • What in all that is holy is going on here. How did people think this was real

  • I access my gmail on my phone browser (I hate email apps because of how intrusive they can be), and for a while it was nice. I didn't need to enable javascript, gmail just worked.

Then they got rid of the HTML-only frontend, and so I used the javascript frontend, and gmail just worked.

Then they started adding a "Please use the App" banner every Nth time I login. For now, it's... fine.

Once they get rid of the mobile javascript frontend? Yes, I might have to try using email apps again
