That barrel falling from a few meters up and hitting with an edge would absolutely do some damage to pretty much anyone even empty. I think you’re underestimating how much force it would have.

Snyder and Quark have different voice anyways. Quark has teeth prosthetics which changes his voice from his natural one. It's subtle but it's there.
Lots of naval terms aren't pronounced the way you would think, e.g. boatswain and gunwale pronounced differently than they are spelled. Boatswain sounds like bo-sunGunwale sounds like gun-ull
