    People who make claims like this forget that nothing is protected by the constitution. The constitution is just a piece of paper. Rights are protected only by enforcement of the constitution and if nobody is willing to enforce it then the rights in there are completely worthless.

  • Someone really needs to explain the fundamental limitations of shared medium internet connections (pretty much anything wireless) when compared to exclusive medium internet connections (one wire/fiber per end point) to politicians and other decision makers.   • I am not talking about SEO and ranking crap. I am talking about the fact that Google e.g. decides that it is smarter than me when I say I want this exact string while searching for an error message and tries to replace all kinds of parts of it. I am talking about Google replacing terms in my search with other terms because it thinks those are more popular even though the term I used was e.g. the name of a software that is deliberately not the common word Google replaced it with. I am talking about Google replacing actual search results with AI summaries.

  • Hollywood seems to have invented the ultimate in copy protection in recent years anyway, making movies so bad nobody even wants to watch them. It is not used by 100% of movies yet but it is spreading.

  • File based formats are just so much better than the shit formats with a specific type of media baked in like Audio CDs and Video DVDs and BR. Especially when those are combined with deliberate deviations from the standard for "copy protection" or with DRM.

    Not to mention that you don't have to give up the advantages of networks along with the disadvantages of streaming services. Files can be downloaded, uploaded and copied across the network just fine.

  • I am missing some distinction between the types of market they are talking about. I mean I could absolutely see that for the vast majority of markets where the art was already sort of slop-like before (e.g. stock pictures to put in news articles) and the customer doesn't really care what it shows exactly or even in some cases for markets where it is just about some random art piece to put on your wall where AI might benefit from being the new thing so it benefits from trends but what about markets where art needs to have some specific content, an area where AI is quite weak?

  • That is not the problem though, Google used to just give you the results containing what you searched for, the problem started when they tried to be "smarter" than that.

  • I would probably pay for Youtube if they stopped sabotaging their own platform and making it worse (e.g. adding shorts, releasing those horrible Rewind videos, preventing playlists with "content made for kids" (e.g. every music video of a song from some Disney movie), mixing in unrelated content into the search results,...).
