  • I've upgraded my MK3 to S and then S+ and my MMU2 to S and then 3. Starting from the launch model of the MK3 and ending with MK3S+ and MMU3 costed me significantly less than buying a new printer. Yes, the upgrade kits across models are not worth it (MK3 to MK4 or MK4 to Core one), but what do you expect? At least they offer the option, and details documentation, you can even source all the parts by yourself.

  • Got my printer back in 2018, at the time the Prusa i3 MK3 was amongst the best printer you could get for the money, best in class performance and reliability, while having totally Open-source mechanical, electronics and firmware. I also got the material changer MMU2.

    People keep buying Prusa because they are committed to keep Open-source and community contributions alive. Very model gets upgrades down the line, coming in parts from community feedback and contributions.

    When the MK3S upgrade came out, they shipped it to me at a minimal cost. When the MMU2S upgrade came, they did too. Just this month, I have upgraded to MK3S+ and MMU3, printing the parts and sourcing the Hardware by myself. Prusa maintains very good documentation and assembly guides, to make the process as easy as possible.

    8 years ago I paid for a good printer. Today it's still relevant and has been super reliable the whole time (MMU2, not so much, I am still testing the MMU3).

    Zutaten für den Mürbeteig:

    • 200 g Mehl
    • 0.5 Pck. Backpulver
    • 1Ei(er)
    • 75 g Zucker
    • 65 g Butter
    • Fett für die Form

    Zutaten für die Füllung:

    • 200 g Zucker
    • 1 Tasse Ölkleine Tasse à 100 ml
    • 4 Ei(er)
    • 0.5 Liter Milch
    • 1 Pck. Vanillinzucker
    • 1 Pck. Vanillepuddingpulver
    • 1 kg Quark

    1. Für den Mürbeteig das Mehl, Backpulver, 1 Ei, Zucker und Butter verrühren und den Teig dann in 2 Hälften teilen. Eine 28er Springform einfetten und mit der einen Hälfte den Rand formen und mit der anderen Hälfte den Boden auslegen.
    2. Für die Füllung alle Zutaten in einer großen Schüssel vermengen und in die Form geben. Die Füllung ist sehr flüssig und verteilt sich somit von selbst.
    3. Den Kuchen im vorgeheizten Backofen bei 175 °C Ober-/Unterhitze ca. 1 1/4 Std. backen (sollte er zu dunkel werden, einfach Backpapier oben drauf legen).
    4. Nach der angegebenen Backzeit den Ofen ausmachen und den Kuchen über Nacht zum Auskühlen einfach im Ofen stehen lassen.

  • The Ctrl+C and the mouse select are 2 different buffers. Some applications do not accept the mouse select buffer though, and that's annoying.

    In the best case you can CTRL+C some text, then go mouse select another, and paste both in a new place with CTRL-V and middle mouse button. Don't mix the order tho.

  • If you go look for a used regular PC case, older model will typically have more 3.5" bays. By older, I mean +15yo.

    If you have access to a 3D printer, you have options to make more drive bays on the cheap.

    You will have to go for a modern power-supply still, in order to have enough SATA power plugs.

  • They are talking about the firmware that runs on the device. The user front-end to easily configure it is another story. Hopefully it's going to quickly get support for Linux as they are starting from well established Open-source projects for keyboard firmware (QMK and ZMK). If it works like for keyboards, you will be able to configure your mouse with something like VIA that runs on Chrome/Chromium (and maybe one day Firefox ?) using the WebUSB API.

    I have 2 keychon keyboards, an old one and a newer one with QMK firmware. Both have worked perfectly well for Linux. The QMK one is easy to configure with VIA once the device permissions are sorted out.
