One of the great struggles of humanity is 'cognitive load.' Thinking, even if you have a very efficient brain, takes effort, and more advanced thought requires more effort. In hierarchies, part of the power dynamic consists of the displacement of cognitive load. The higher powered individuals don't think about what the lower powered individuals think, and, with enough power, not even the collective. The lower powered individuals, though, must consider the desires of those with higher power in order to make their way through the world. They have to expend effort, to carry the cognitive load.
Those adult children you are talking about are those who have not had to carry the load. People generally don't expend effort they are not forced to, so why would they go to the effort of considering the effects of their actions on others when their life has taught them that's the job of those lower than them? Or that they can do what they want without expending the effort and not only not be punished, but get ahead in life because their society runs on psychopathy?
No one said art is creating facts. Perhaps I was not clear.
A memoir can be written with great skill, craft, eloquence, sensitivity and/or care, but it cannot be an act of creation and a non-fiction work at the same time. If you write a memoir and are creating events, making them up, you are not writing non-fiction. If you write a memoir in which you have not created anything, simply reported the events, it is non-fiction, but not a creative work. It is productive, produces an artifact, not creative, creating something new.
I draw the distinction between art and craft. One can be a craftsman, very skilled in the techniques of a process, without being an artist, a creator of expressive works. A woodworking craftsman can make perfectly dimensioned copies of a table, using great skill, and they might be beautiful, but unless they design the table they haven't necessarily done anything artistic. In writing non-fiction, one can have great craft (making eloquent, precise, and concise word choices, making phrases that are memorable or entertaining without compromising verity, etc.) but being creative is the departure point from non-fiction. If you create facts and put them into your non-fiction, you, at best, are mistaken, but are likely simply falsifying evidence or lying.
'Mein Kampf' isn't art. It's non-fiction, at least insofar as the writer believed it to be describing the real world. 'Separate the art from the artist' doesn't apply to non-fiction.
This triggered a memory. I was headed to work. I pull up to a red light. It was legal to turn on a red there but I choose not to. Guy wangs on the brakes behind me and is pissed that I'm not turning on the red. I take the turn calmly and safely. He slams on the accelerator and takes the turn wide to go around me. He is absurdly pissed about having to wait all of fifteen seconds. I don't even have time to roll my eyes. Siren and lights go up behind me and he's being pulled over because the vehicle behind him at the light was a cop. If waiting fifteen seconds threw him into such a tizzy I can only imagine he burst a blood vessel at losing however much time the cop took.
I have ads blocked. I have no idea what lies they are trying to tell me. My suggestions in pretty much the only place I use that has them, unfortunately, are mostly things I have already seen or reposts of those things.
Maybe as he loses support, Vance will resign 'in disgust' and the congress will finally impeach him. American Speaker of the House, Mike Johnson, becomes President Johnson for 15 minutes. The Republicans try to ride the wave of righteous anger to get the 'moral' Americans to support a return to 'wholesome values,' saying Trump 'swindled the Republican party just like he did America.' Trump dies awaiting a court date. He's old, so no one calls foul play. Vance riles up the same anti-whatever-you-think-is-bad sentiment, but not as well, and is supported by AI billionaires who use their GPUs, left idle because they only have three customers willing to pay what it costs to run them, to pump out pro-Vance and 'anti-woke' propaganda. He tries to become President Vance. He hopes for two terms because he resigned before he could be succeeded into the presidency. The democratic party rolls out Joe Biden in an iron lung to run again. America looks at the options and organises the biggest mass shooting in history, in the form of an enormous mass suicide. The survivors blame the dead and vote for Biden 'to teach the Republican Party a lesson.' Nothing changes.
'Drama' seekers and what I might call drama-pigs. There are a lot of people who think relationships are 'supposed' to have drama. They see versions of relationships, romantic or friendships, in dramas and romances written to be interesting from the outside and absorb it as normal. The result is deleterious. The other side of this is the drama-pigs, people who feed off of the real-life dramatics of people's lives as entertainment. They read AITA posts or watch drama vlogs as though the people involved were characters in a story rather than real people who are dealing with real problems.
