Is it really that hard to refrain from SAing someone? Or at bare minimum, not running for office if you have? The audacity of these candidates is mind-blowing.
My big comparison is to the string of mayors mayors in Seattle, who share similar political leanings, but appear to have have the execution power of rocks. He is like a million times more effective - and it makes a huge difference.
I saw it with my kiddos. I thought it was pretty good. Better than most movies out there. Smarty Pants is my new favorite character in the series (previously held my Duke Kaboom).
The reason Mamdani is so good, is that he gets shit done. I hope he's endorsed people who can also get shit done, otherwise he's gives fuel to the centrist critique that the left are a bunch of feckless idiots.
A national tax ensures billionaires have more difficulty dodging it. A tax in a single state just makes people move to a different state. Tactically, it makes more sense.
A bunch of policies are good both for society and for capitalism (universal healthcare, free college/trade school, taxing the rich). Why don't we tackle those before we argue amongst ourselves?
There absolutely should be taxes on the billionaire class: 50% capital gains over a certain amount, limitations on borrowing against stock assets, increased income tax on income over $1m, and no cutoff on social security tax, just to name a few. That class should not exist and taxes are a great way to move that forward.
I watched a presentation on the economy the other day. The net take away was it's going great for the rich - and will continue to due to current tax policy. And fuck everyone else. It was presented as a good thing. I'm not sure the guy had learned the lessons of Marie Antoinette.
