  • I can't stand having things in my pocket for the most part so I have a small shoulder bag that hold my wallet and keys. My phone goes in my pocket if I am walking around but on my desk or table if I'm sitting. The only thing that remains inside and that's because it goes into the tiny pocket are my airpods because I can't really notice them.

  • Not a common joke but pretty much every building I have lived in has people using random joke names for their wifi setup.

  • I would think that loss of a child. As a teenager, I had a neighbor whose friend had lost both a child and a spouse and who said that the spouse was more difficult. Of course this is subjective and will depend on each person.

  • And you stopped arguing and started making personal attacks so this conversation serves no further purpose.

  • Yes. Also yes. I clip the breather to my backpack. It just hangs there and I don't notice it.

  • Well I mean that's what conservatives do. They talk loudly and then lie behind the scenes.

  • I think the difference here is that in both of those previous crashes, the entire market was involved. For AI, only a small number of companies have the resources to really get involved. If this collapses, most people will shrug and go back to whatever they were doing.

  • No, that's when the tanks come in. Have you forgotten that the police have used airplanes and bombs to subdue people? They have even destroyed entire neighborhoods. In what world do you live where you think you can win here? You will be squashed just like millions before you and the world will keep turning.

  • It is very cavalier to say that unless you are willing to be one of the first sacrifices.

  • it’s as if Americans just don’t care…

They've been propagandized over generations into not trying. They have been lead to believe that what is here now is good and don't see that it could be better.

  • Because people who are legal concealed carry permit holders regularly get shot in the back by police. People who act like you can stand up to a major world military are idiots.

  • Also if you live in a blue state, your government is probably looking out for you.

  • This is my take. You'll want to turn on a VPN to see the real tik tok.

  • They'll all go to Insta or YouTube shorts. If they care, I mean.

  • My grandmother will not drive in winter or when it's dark. Only during the bright hours of the day and only to see friends or perhaps a quick errand to the market. For the rest of it, she rides along with others when they go out.

  • It honestly sounds like you've only briefly entered cities in traffic but stayed in one. All that stuff you mentioned really isn't a thing. My condo is very quiet and I have lovely trees filled with birds just outside my window. And I live right in one of the densest parts of the city.

  • That is actually one of the things I look forward to. I was 10 when it came and think I'll be in my 70s (?) when it comes again. I remember looking up at it and wondering what it will be like to see it again.

  • I'm a strong introvert. People stop being people once their number goes past 10 or so. Then you are just looking at an amorphous fluid that you pass through just like air or water. Honestly you don't notice the people, you notice the buildings, subways, etc.

  • Mine still drives her car, except in winter, and goes to see her friends every day. Church every Sunday. I think this is the way I'll go...
