  • I've had two and the only time I've used it is by accident. Something like the Lenovo Yoga where you can put it into touchscreen/drawing mode would work, but I don't see how it's useful to touch your screen at a weird angle.

  • I mean I'd cancel my contract right then and there.

  • Insert "first time?" meme here.

  • That was my take. Yes, it could well have happened, but can we really trust what someone like that says?

  • My computer uses a dark mode theme so that white colored font would have stood out to me.

  • People who are into technology tend to know a little bit about a lot of things that still rises well beyond the level of the average person. You don't get onto Lemmy without having some tech ability unless someone helped you set it up.

    You said:

possibly due to misinformation about its environmental costs.

You made a very strong set of assumptions:

    • The environmental cost is exaggerated
    • People are misinformed about it

You then failed to substantiate your claim with any argument or evidence.

  • I'm not taking a side here, I'm just explaining what happened.

There is a great deal of worry about two things: 1, real creative people are being displaced since many no longer feel they need their services. 2, AI is not creative and cannot generate real art. It is really used only by people who cannot make art and usually cannot tell the difference.

  • That your assessment is very wrong. You may not understand the average person here or who they are.

  • Not invented, siphoned off from those who can't game the system like they can. That means you and me.

  • People on Lemmy exist at a very high technical level. This place is full of people with advanced degrees in STEM.

  • This has nothing to do with that specific image, and more to do with the fact that it is AI generated. The complaint is that you should have either done the art yourself or had someone do it for you rather than let AI do it.

  • And testosterone will genuinely ages you. This stuff is not meant to be taken lightly.

  • What a fantastic simile!

  • Imagine having your brain so far up your bro science ass that you undermine a core principle of your party.

  • The first part is arguable: who was the "people" at the time. The rest of it is nonsense and the judge should feel ashamed.

  • I'm referring to the alienation of people who browse all, see a thread, and make an innocent comment only to be savaged by a mob of angry types who sort by new comments and continually hit F5.

  • Lemmy has managed to survive in spite of the tankies that develop it. I guess federation works in the end.

  • There is also a penchant amongst some tech types to force their worldviews. Look at all the AI people, Zuckerberg, and so many other tech leaders.

  • That seems like a reasonable one. I would probably put nearly all of it towards my housing so that I can clear my mortgage debt more quickly. Maybe set aside a portion to pay off credit cards.
