  • I have long thought that the Civil War was a mistake. We could have rid ourselves of them a long time ago and really been a progressive country. The South would have quickly collapsed and become part of the third world.

  • Speaking as someone who is often ashamed to be from the US, I am glad that our global standing is finally dropping like a rock. We have spent a century bullying the rest of the world, but that will not happen anymore. Fortunately, the likely replacements--China and India--seem to be able to think in the longer term and should help create a more stable world.

  • When people marched in NYC after Stonewall, it was the whole community: LGBTQ. Once the police let off, all of the LGB types abandoned the rest of the community and went back to their well-paying jobs. This author is just like one of these unempathetic sorts.

  • Is that for one person? I get that there are lots of vegetables, but it seems like a lot of food.

  • Yeah. I seriously find it offensive when people post articles that nobody can read. WSJ and Economist are other such examples.

  • You're repeating yourself.

  • No, you were under the impression that you could sow doubt where none is due.

  • ❤️

  • In a bizarre way, I can feel myself developing statistical intuitions. I’m becoming more confident but not necessarily competent haha.

  • I was just thinking about you. Thanks so much for coming back here for this. I’ll check these out.

  • Republicans want to privatize everything as part of their hatred of taxes and their want to hobble government. They have spent since George W. trying to decapitate the postal service to force people to use FedEx, UPS, and DHL.

  • Worse than stupid: criminal.

  • Mild case of death lol lol lol

  • Yeah that was pathetic. Basically "I'm allowed to be a bro, guys. How dare you question me!"

  • This, folks, is how the entitled class behaves. Kavanaugh is another great example. Born with a silver spoon in their mouth, guided by others into a top position. They only had to show up to the party while the rest of us idiots struggle to survive. Of course they expect to be able to do anything they want without consequence. This is not about Roberts noticing that opinion has changed, this is him suffering that there is pushback.

  • 3b1b, the gray cuber, 2swap, lines that connect etc…

I just went and subscribed to these channels. Their videos will pop up in my feed over time.

I have spent the last few months watching Mind Your Decisions and AndyMath. I can follow what they are doing but do not feel that I could always/necessarily reproduce what they do if given a novel problem. I am hopeful that continuing to go through these will help me build up a solid repertoire of thinking skills.

If you have other channel suggestions, please share!

  • Actually not in this case, though I don't recall the details. It was one of several incidents that resulted in the SPD being put under control of a federal court for 10 - 12 years.

  • I think it would be fairer to call it heavily biased. I'm just saying that it's surprising me to me that they didn't turn it into a giant propaganda mill since they already had access to so many venues.

  • In English, the plural "there are" is collapsing into the singular "there's" such as "there's five cars over there". A lot of language changes happen this way. It annoys people who think about language.
