  • EFF has been fighting the good fight for decades. I signed up for their newsletter in the 90s when I was a teen and still didn't understand enough about the world to be confident that I properly understood what they stood for, concerned that I might have picked the wrong side. I occasionally check their job listings. But they need lawyers and legal experts and I'm trying to run their IT infrastructure. At some point, if I check enough times, maybe they'll need the skills I have. I'd drop any job to work for them.

  • My father was a workaholic. My brother and I were both worried he'd become depressed when he retired. Nope. He created all kinds of work for himself by starting a million projects. He said he never had enough time for all that he wanted to do. It was a great relief.

  • Bookmarks lead to dead sites. Read-it-later services store content. I went to send a link to a friend last week and the source was gone. Luckily, I had the content stored and was able to copy / paste the original info to my friend after the domain expired. A bookmark doesn't get the old data.

  • Taiwan. I wanted to try on a pair of shoes. The sales person was gone a long time. We asked what happened to her. They didn't have my size, so she went to all the other shoe stores in on the block checking if they had my size. Incredible customer service. Quite unreal to a USA native.
