  • I'm only able to really keep my place super clean by being OCD about it or by hiring cleaners to come once a month. If I'm just being mellow version of myself, the correct place to put whatever object down is the nearest flat surface. Whether table, desk, counter, space on top of a bookshelf, etc.

I live in clutter, but not dirt. My partner opts to clean our place because she thinks that's better than paying people to come monthly. We still have them quarterly to do a deep clean. She also picked up a vacuum and mopping robot last month to automate more of the work. It's reasonably effective.

I tend to wash the dishes that I use immediately because I don't cook much. When she cooks, there's a lot more involved and we use the dishwasher. I take the trash and recycling out. I'm too lazy to fold my tshirts and splay them out on my dresser. The kitties are happy with that because they nap on them.

  • I wrote a coin flip script that randomly calls qlmanage -p tails.jpg / heads.jpg (Mac) to flip a virtual coin.

  • Hilarious.

  • “As our nation girds for possible Iranian terrorist attacks, this is the person Trump put in charge of terrorism prevention,” Murphy wrote — referring to Fugate. “22 years old. Recent work experience: landscaping/grocery clerk. Never worked a day in counter-terrorism. But he’s a BIG Trump fan. So he got the job.”

    Woohoo.

  • I'd buy you a beer for this one.

  • This is a detailed and considerate response. Thanks. I can absolutely see where you're coming from now.

  • I do t believe that for a second.

  • Years ago, my then-partner and I walked into a grocery store to get sun screen. I narrated my logic for where it would be in the store as we walked to it immediately. She said something to the effect of she would never be able to make that series of deductions so quickly.

She wasn't saying that I was super smart or that she wasn't as smart as me. She simply meant that I processed that particular task very efficiently.

I hate shopping at grocery stores and spent years optimizing the experience to be as quick and efficient as possible. It's like a super power that only works on this singular task.

  • One in the hand is worth two in the bush.

  • I was at a concert at an amphitheater. The headlining band was about to come on and I was at the front of the lawn with some other guys that I didn't know. I suggested that when the band takes the stage, if we all jump the bars to be right by the stage, reasoning that they can't catch all of us. They agreed to jump with me. They didn't and I got caught by a security guard who knew exactly what was about to happen.

He was angry and roughed me up more than what was reasonable. On the way to kick me out of the venue, I informed him that I wanted to file a complaint about him. He took me to their admin office to write a complaint. He didn't tell the admin lady that I needed to be kicked out after and she just let me go when I was done.

I re-entered the show at the back of the lawn on the other end of the venue, far away from where he was posted. I got to stay for the rest of the show. Technically illegal because at that point I was trespassing, but nobody knew to enforce it except for one guy who didn't see me.

  • Why would I care that a sex-pest endorsed a fellow sex-pest?

  • Fuck no. Organized religion is the source of most of the harms in the world. There is no man in the sky. You have no special blessing to be terrible to others.

Capitalism is responsible for most of the rest of the harms. And then a very small percent is the result of basically-bad people and mental health issues.

  • I came here to post a derisive comment, but you've changed my mind. Well said.

    Edit: derisive

  • Just switch parties already, you brain-damaged sack of shit.

  • Here’s the rub though, you can’t have soldiers that can’t put on NBC masks and keep them deployable.

There are plenty of jobs to be done away from front lines, are there not? I have never served, but it seems like there ought to be lots and lots of jobs where people are cogs in a machine in offices and the like. Please inform me why soldiers can't get rotated to such positions to keep them employed.
