You can rent a virtual private server (VPS). I used to have a number of these for under $10 / month. I imagine they might cost more now., but chances are you can still find something super affordable.
Wordpress.org will let you have a free site but you don't get a custom domain. Wordpress.com has a personal plan for $4 / month. Matt Mullenweg (CEO) has revealed himself to be a crazy piece of shit, so maybe look elsewhere. I'm just trying to give you a sense of how accessible this stuff can be.
Running a VPS will require more learning, but it can be super gratifying if you enjoy nerdy computer stuff and solving puzzles just for self-satisfaction. I used to use Rackspace, Linode, and something else that I can't recall at the moment. All were pretty reasonable. Rackspace had a ton of good setup guides for newbies that were well written. I'd occasionally land on those doing a web search for other hosting stuff and found them reliable.
Edit: DigitalOcean was the one I couldn't remember.
After doing a lot of spring cleaning and clearing some space where a bunch of random stuff was piled up, I moved an unused kitty bed to that area. One of the kitties is in it for the first time this morning. That's almost as good as meeting a new kitty, cause it's a familiar kitty in a new space. Bonus: the new shelves I assembled over the weekend for vinyl records have one space open for the kitties (on the second row) and the other kitty was in there for the first time this morning, too.
I could not be more grateful that layoff at my previous company came in the first half of 2023. I got my current job just before all the doom and gloom stories about the job market started appearing. I've got years of experience, which certainly helps. I couldn't imagine trying to break into the market as a junior anything right now.
You don't need to be a helicopter parent to explain to your kids that you want to be able to find them if needed. And you don't need to monitor them just because that feature is enabled. A reasonable parent can require the feature be enabled and only use it when there's cause.
I maintain that if you need to hide your tracker from your child, you suck as a parent. And if your kid has special needs that make this untenable, that's obviously different from what I originally said broadly about most parents.
Yes, now more than ever. But inept people had children who they raised to be thoughtless party-followers rather than free-thinkers and that's why Roe v Wade was overturned.
If you need to spy on your kids to keep tabs on them, you're a shitty parent. You should be able to discuss enabling Find My (assuming they have an iPhone) on their phone and why that's required (by you) openly.
Too many inept people have children. That's a large part of why society is in such decline.
Look, we've only known the effects of radium and similar chemical structures for about a hundred years or so. Give corporations a chance to catch up. /s
