Sure, Democrats totally do it, too. Democrats aren't being pardoned for it by the same party that's simultaneously acting like it's a huge deal when Democrats do it, and also arguing that they need to be able to insider trade because they're not paid enough to live comfortably and that it's actually not a bad thing at all when they're doing it.
This is the hype train, claiming they can and will do so much more than be junior software engineers.
Why would they want a slowdown while simultaneously getting ready for an IPO?
Because for one, these things can't and won't do so much more than be junior software engineers because a complete lack of understanding of how the human mind does not inhabit the body or pilot the body, but the mind separated from the body loses wholeness. That's going to blow up these IPOs if they can't actually deliver, so the slowdown is the industry all shaking hands and saying "we need more time for this charade to hold up" when actually none of them will slow down, they'll just be trying to hide how little forward progress there is to be made left with these kind of models and without moving to something even more complex. They need the con to last as long as possible in hopes of delivering something useful at all to justify the massive increase in surveillance capitalism that citizens obviously do not want. Their IPO will crash if they get found out to be frauds right after going public, and they aren't satisfied enough with a quick pump and dump, they all want to be the next Musk. So they need a global slowdown to justify how things have actually hit a wall in terms of making LLMs useful to every day people.
On reddit if a post was deleted I could still interact with the thread, even if the content of the post itself was gone.
So it was a bit more elegant, imho, as it allows continued discussion and being able to link to the thread without it being completely nuked.
I also think that set expectations for how people expected it to work here, where the post contents and author would be nuked but the thread could still be accessed by hotlink.
These would have to be added to Lemmy development, because currently I can delete a post of my own on a community on another instance and there isn't a technical way to prevent it. Reporting and banning for behavior is tricky too unless you manage to remember the username of who posted it.
So, that's an uphill battle at the development level and the moderation level.
It doesn't make sense, either. There's no rational reason to delete a thread after the question has been answered.
Even if it wasn't actually a person but was an AI agent asking questions so it can scrape the data from the answers, there's no real utility in deleting the posts after receiving responses. It just seems so weird.
Valid fear especially considering Asahi Linux is being developed for the M-series chips from Apple and this laptop is technically an A-series chip that they usually use in their phones. There's no telling on if or when there could be even baseline Linux support for it!
Yes, and there's clearly been a market for more affordable Apple products for a long time.
I run all Linux at home, but I an enthused about Apple silicon and I like the fact that macOS is certified UNIX, making a lot of aspects of working with it more similar to Linux than working with Windows.
I'm poor, but I plan on saving up and eventually getting one just so I have a functional modern Apple device for once in my life. (Other than when I was 12 and my parents bought a 66mhz PowerPC Macintosh)
