  • This is nothing compared to some of the shit in this thread, but I accidentally accepted shifts at three jobs that had me working 24 hours straight. Started loading in for some sort of concert at 4am, then at 9am I went for a shift at a cafe, at 2pm i left for a shift at a grocery store, at 10pm I left to start tearing down the stage I set up in the morning. I was finally done at 4am, 24 hours later. Got home at 5am and as I was washing up all my joints cracked and I had the longest fart ever.

*Accidentally because the stagehand job was on-call and they only called me like once every few months. It was good money, so I accepted it on the spot. WOOPS.

  • Maybe it's not really any specific thing, but rather just her realizing she's not interested. It's not something you should be so hard on yourself for, it happens no matter what you do or who you are. Of course there's always room for personal growth but always remember you can do everything right and still lose. Like, I don't really see this as taking an L, more like taking a That's the way she goes boi.

  • I've been playing on linux for almost five years now with steam through proton. It's a compatibility thingy majigger that makes it so I can basically play any game I want through steam as long as it doesn't have anti-cheat, which to me is a plus because I think that shit is downright disgusting.

PC is the most versatile, and IMO, the most future proof. Sure you can get a console that will be good for maybe five or six years, but my current system is almost 13 years old now (an old dell work station with a hole cut in the door so 1070Ti can fit inside) and it still works fine enough with most games. I couldn't play Baldur's Gate III or some of the newer games though. It's basically a potato in that regard; however, it's more than good enough for my favourite games like Deep Rock Galactic, Deadlock, Satisfactory, Slime Rancher 1 & 2, Factorio and whole bunch more.

An issue right now with PC is that the "AI" fad is increasing the cost of components like RAM and hard drives. So if you want to to get a PC I'd suggest waiting a couple of years or until the AI bubble pops, which should be a good show to watch at least. Valve is also releasing their own PC (the Steam Machine) soon, maybe. I think you'd be interested in that if the AI price hikes didn't fuck their plans up too much.

Many of the larger studios that you've probably heard of were bought out by venture capitalists that then proceed to fuck shit up because, idk, efficiency I guess. This leads to the incomplete releases you often hear about. Anyway, there are a lot of smaller studios that are amazing; like Ghost Ship Games (Deep Rock Galactic) and Coffee Stain Studios (Satisfactory, Goat Simulator). Not to mention the probably thousands of solo devs that make games just because they want too (From Glory to Goo, Townscaper, Tiny Glade, Stardew Valley ...).

It's not just the flashy games you read about, there's so many other games you can play that are often better in almost every aspect then the games from the larger studios, other than graphics for the most part. I really don't like consoles because they are limited in what they can play, and often only last five to six years before games stop releasing on them and you have to buy an entire new system. Just my take tho. Again, look into Valves Steam Machine, it should be the best of both worlds. AFAICT prices look to be ~$950 - $1000.

If you want to pirate games check out Linux Crack Tips. I always forget how to link to communities... :s

  • they won’t read a big long letter with citations

That's not unfortunate, that's downright lazy and really shitty of them. That says to me that they see being on city council as a job, not as a public service.

Anyway, the main reasons would be water usage and contamination. Any water used in the data centres will likely be contaminated with PTFEs because that's really the only kind of hose they can use to move water around all the electronics, AFAIK. Also the massive amounts of electricity that would be used *driving up the cost for everyone, not sure where you get your electricity though.

I suppose there could be more reasons, but those would be specific to your area.

  • It really depends on what your sources are.

For instance, the ESA has many options for most of their pictures, one of them being a 122.4mb TIFF. Then there will be all the aggregator sites that host the same image at lower quality...

As for increasing the quality; it's really difficult to do. IIRC there was a group of people that hand edited each and every frame of the original Star Wars trilogy from VHS quality to 4k. It took years and they almost ran out of money before finishing the Empire Strikes Back. As much as I hate how AI is being shoved down everyone's throats these days, this is one of those things that it is/would be good at (when applied properly) and was actually meant for; trawling through massive amounts of data and making connections.

  • It's irresponsible to let a cat outside by itself, doubly so if it's on a special diet. Blaming people for feeding a cat in such situations is like blaming a pedestrian for being hit by a car. I also mention this because outdoor cats are more likely to be hit by a car.

  • Even if I could find a use for it, I still wouldn't because of how error prone it is. If I have to double check the output, why should I even bother? Fuck of Jensen. Get bankrupt'd.

  • Search [your laptop model] linux and see what other people have experienced. IME it's almost always painless unless you just happen to have a proprietary wifi chip or something that devs are still reverse engineering.

  • You should go to a vet. Excessive ammonia in her pee is not good, since you say it's always been this way maybe something genetic that might require medication before permanent damage is done.

  • Aww the cute wittle human's been adopted!

  • Oligarchs gunna oligarch.

  • Ahhh that would be awesome! I'm sure I'll love the dedica once I get it working, but I don't like how the internals are almost entirely plastic excepting the screws and the thermoblock.

  • it is known

  • I hope you understand me when I say :3

  • She'll probably just burn it or use it to defraud the neighbours.
