  • I’m of two minds on this. I feel like this is a little bit of undemocratic action that is in service of preventing much more massive undemocratic action from happening.

    1. Stein’s candidacy, with Trump on the ballot, is a risk to democracy. She’s not on all the ballots, the odds of her winning are basically impossible, and she can only really help the guy who attempted a coup.
    2. If the state guided the Greens to use the form without county names, removing them from the ballot for this technically is pretty petty and arguably undemocratic.

    We need ranked choice voting nationally.

    They happened to be making pick axes in California right before some prospectors found gold.

    And they don’t even really make pick axes, TSMC does. They just design them.

  • Reading up on AB 1840, it looks like (from what I can grok) this would help undocumented immigrants to get more affordable loans. But they would still be loans, not grants (right?) So I don’t quite understand Newsom’s budget argument. It’s a loan. Most of the money will be coming back over 30 years.

    That said, CA’s housing supply is trash, and if this was a ballot initiative, I think you’d have a real hard time passing it. People are rightly or wrongly going to assume that this will increase competition in the buying market. When a house sells in CA’s major metros, it’s on the market for 2 weeks and the seller is sifting through dozens of offers.

    That said, the public was pretty pissed at this court’s ruling. Why? I was too young to really comprehend it, but it was definitely a thing that dominated the news.

  • IMHO, it’s best to get a TV with CES and a good amount of HMDI inputs with newer specs.

    Don’t connect the TV to the internet, and use external media players. That’s what I do with my Samsung.

  • Just saying that people knew Biden was a risky candidate, and people worried that swapping out the incumbent might increase the risk.

    People were making their best guesses with the information they had at the time. The only way to know for sure is to have a multiverse Time Machine.

    I get it. Changing the engine out mid-flight comes with a lot of uncertainty. Would selecting a new candidate go smoothly, would a new candidate be able to get momentum, what happens if a new candidate is worse, etc.

    Biden wasn’t great, but people were worried about all the unknowns.

    Her statement came after a week of her condemning Bibi’s offensive, saying she “will not be silent” on Gaza suffering, and ghosting Bibi during his misinformation speech to Congress.

    The GOP is now campaigning on Harris supporting terrorism. She’s trying to clarify that she’s supports defense - it’s the offense that’s killing kids that is horrid.
