  • to put it in terms trump would understand, completely retarded

Honestly, I'd completely phased this word out of my vocabulary, but describing MAGA admins are the one time I will use it. It's the only thing that accurately describes them. Elon wanted to bring it back so badly, why not use it to tell him what friendless retard he actually is.

  • Animal testing typically involves injecting chemicals or rubbing directly into purpose-made abrasions or the eyes of animals

    Man...why are we like this...

Animal testing doesn't even guarantee that it'll react the same way in/on humans. We have so many other options and yet we continue cruel practices because tradition. Ugh.

  • ...how is this not considered spam? (The account, not you OP)

  • No, they dumped them and got much nicer and less judgemental people in their lives. Sucks that you won't experience that type of growth anytime soon if your replies are anything to go by.

Good luck with being a victim or whatever you're trying.

  • Bro said "consensually"

  • Baffles me. and by people I mean, mostly women. Most men think my place is plenty spacious and great.

This is so weird, because I also have anecdotes about lots of women who live in 500sqft studios and love it, and their male partners/friends judge them for not having more space because they can't stay over or "party" there. My roommate's ex-boyfriend was like this, and we lived in a 2bed/2.5bath.

It's as if you've surrounded yourself with assholes, and decided it's a gendered problem.

  • I got vertigo just looking at this picture.

  • Ok so the "Vape's were designed to get you accustomed to sucking robot dick" people just got more validated, cool cool cool cool cool.

  • The "discount" "+$100" 💀

  • I wonder if this related to the uptick of the focus on cultural/artistic "taste" I've been noticing in the tech sphere (including in this very Wired article).

For context: I had an interview with a tech company that's a secondary player in the AI sphere, and they asked me about Pierre Bourdieu and my "Pinterest aesthetic preferences" of all things. Very wtf moment.

  • The article isn't paywalled.

But also, a Lemmy user not knowing how to skip paywalls/clear their cookies to avoid paywalls seems incongruous in my mind, idk why.

  • Israeli Jews are mostly European and Americans, you can look up the census.

Israel was created as a way for Europe to not give the European Jewish people their land, wealth, language and influence back in Europe after CENTURIES of oppression. But yeah, it's the Muslim's fault. You don't even understand your own history at this point, you just want to hate Muslims, even when majority Catholic countries like Spain are calling out Israel.

    But history is history.

LMAO rich coming from someone who is defending a country that was apparently promised to a group of people THREE THOUSAND YEARS AGO. Check your own hypocrisy.

Today in 2026, 2/3 of racial attacks in my country are against Jews. We have synagogues being shot at coinciding with events in the Middle East. Sorry to pierce the safe little bubble you’ve built for yourself, but anti-zionism is the same as anti-semitism now

Post stats. Back up your statement. If you're going to call the Jews in Israel refusing to serve under the IDF when they are attacking civilians in Gaza and Lebanon anti-semetic, back up your statement. If you're going to call the Jews around the world speaking up and saying that Israel should stop bombing children and civilians, back up your statement about them being anti-semites. If you're going to defend an environmentalist getting bombed in Lebanon because she didn't want to leave her conservation work, back up your statements about why she deserved to die.

And if you live in Canada, here's the police stats about hate crimes there. It's not 2/3's btw, because anti-Islam hatecrime is also up there in the numbers, and so is anti-Asian.

It's hilarious that you say I live in an anti-semetic bubble, when the evidence actually points to YOU living in one. I'm glad others also called you out on it.

  • If it gets to a point where Jews are leaving your country to escape antisemitic violence, who’s the monsters?

LMAO, the people who leave are getting discounted houses/free land stolen from LIVING families who are now homeless. There are so many fucking reports, documentaries, and interviews about this, spanning back to the 19-fucking-70s. The Nakba is a real historically analyzed event. Fucking Helen Mirren has a quote about what she saw:

Mirren said of her experience in Israel at that time:I witnessed things that were wrong. I witnessed Arabs being thrown out of their houses in Jerusalem. But it was just the extraordinary magical energy of a country just beginning to put its roots in the ground. It was an amazing time to be here.

Who's the monster? Look in the mirror, "space cowboy". From a Canadian instance no less: you exist in a server on stolen treaty land, and you're support other's land getting stolen. What else is new.

  • It's so blatant too, for anyone with half a brain. We're part of 5 Eyes, there's like 97 data centres being built or already in the late stages of approval here, and all of our internet traffic is controlled by 3 mega ISPs in moustache and glasses. We're already being tracked pretty thoroughly. Conservatives or Liberals, it doesn't matter when it comes to selling Canadians off to foreign corporate entities.

  • Sorry, I was unclear. I meant the layoffs were related to replacing pandemic hires working from home with cheaper H1Bs willing to RTO/take cheaper salaries, since by then everyone was boostered up and ready for travel, and visa applicationswere actually being processed instead of "backlogged" (ignored) by Trump Admin 1.0.

  • Wasn't this more related to the Trump era H1B limitations expiring under Biden around 2022? I may be misremembering the timeline since time after 2020 is fucked, but I swear I remember a greater uptick of H1B hires in tech around this time, as well as outsourcing teams to India.

  • There are probably many more minds that could hack being a good doctor, but are smart enough to go into a field where the work-life balance hasn’t been a terrible trope since 1900.

This was me. Studied for and did well on the required exams, interviewed at a couple of schools, and in between my interviews and acceptance letter I talked to a couple of people in residency at my university. The descriptions of their work-life balance was so atrocious, and the altruism of the profession so stomped out of their mentality that I decided I could probably help people in other ways.

As I watched a couple of my close friends battle depression all through medical school and residency with very little institutional or mentor support, I decided I absolutely made the right choice. I really respect you for staying within the system and becoming an RN, because you guys also have it just as rough, along with the added disrespect of "But you're not a DOCTOR."

I don't know why medicine is so gatekeepy in it's processes. Being strict in education and procedures I understand. But the heirarchy, egoism, and political games to grind down all these young trainees is quite archaic.
