  • I can sort of relate. I'm fat as fuck, but I really like salads and veggies. When I go out to eat, my (much smaller) partner will order like a steak and potatoes, and I might order like a chicken cobb salad, not because I'm dieting, but I because I really wanted a dinner salad. And like half the time they give the salad to my partner and give me the steak.

  • I recently became aware of the "performative male" stereotype. Basically, if you're a guy who doesn't dress the way most men dress and you like to read books in public, you're just "performing" in order to attract women.

I think it's the whole anti-intellectualism aspect of the stereotype that irks me the most (it being shameful somehow for a guy to read).

In some cases Tik-Tokers are filming guys just sitting alone at like a Starbucks reading a book, bothering nobody, and acting like they caught a predator.

It reminds me of that old Bill Hicks anecdote where he's at a diner in the deep south reading a book, and some dude exclaims "looks we got a reader!" as if it were something peculiar.

Here's a good critique of it if you're OOTL https://youtube.com/watch?v=b3jIgdbVjr4

  • I bought a Pentium II 450Mhz Dell tower for $40 at a flea market recently. It was in great condition except for missing a hard drive. Installed a 32gb ssd with a SATA to IDE converter kit and installed Windows 98. It works! This was my first time doing something like this.

Looking for a good graphics card now. I want a VooDoo 2 but those are like $300 on ebay.

  • AirTags. I have 7. One for my keys, a Find My compatible third party card shaped one for my MagSafe wallet (also third party), one for my second wallet, and the rest for my bags and suitcases. They have saved me so many times.

  • I hate these newer road signs that are a sickly green color instead of the traditional yellow.

  • He seemed taller in Spider-Man.

  • I've been using dark mode 24/7 on all my devices for like 7 years now. I've tried a few times going back to light mode because text looks sharper but I keep getting headaches seemingly everytime I use light mode for more than a couple hours at a time.

  • Once or twice a year, I'll get an eyelash that's grey and weirdly long. Plucking it is so satisfying though.

  • Trying to pick up my cat. She won't let me. I just want to hold her. 🥺

  • A calzone.

  • I vaguely remember as a kid my parents being asked to show their ID at the grocery store when paying with a credit card. I think they were checking that the names matched.

  • My girlfriend returns other people's stray carts when she sees them. I guess she's getting into super heaven.

  • I didn't realize he was that old.

  • But she's so young.

  • When I was 10, I went on a trip to Venezuela. At this restaurant in Caracas, I went into the bathroom. It was a single person bathroom. For some reason the door had slide locks on both sides. While I was in there, some kid locked the door from the outside (I could see through a narrow gap). It was a real door, not a stall door. I couldn't unlock it. I started panicking a little and kicking the door. Eventually a waiter let me out.

I'm still confused about why that door could be locked on the outside.

  • I can't get over how Scott Bakula starred in two shows involving time travel and both had infamously bad finales.

  • Found footage horror. Creep 1 and 2 are my favorites of the genre.

  • I really hate the collection cases some of the Blu-ray releases come in. I recently got the complete Blu-ray collection of Star Trek: Enterprise. All the discs are crammed in really tight in one single large plastic case; it feels like you're going to risk breaking them just trying to get any of them out. The table of contents is printed on the inside of the case behind several discs so you have to take those discs out just to see the list.
