I agree except I don't think they know they are wrong. If anything, it seems they know they are right in their heads, and that's everything they care about.

The thing with that kind of mindset is that it doesn't propagate as within a population not driven by exceptionalism. They feel so special that they can point their fingers and rest assured they are different or would be safe, because they wouldn't commit a specific attributed mistake. Until it happens to them, but couldn't possibly happen to the rest, and again and again.
