  • Pretty sure she's proposing to the pizza. After mating with it, she will consume it, like some sort of spider (or other creature where the female eats her mate).

  • It just seems like dude is suffering from Not invented here and wants to reinvent the wheel. The only reason anyone noticed is because a tech b-lister is involved.

  • I sat through a couple of the Paw Patrol movies when my guys were younger. It helps if you can find a way to appreciate them for what they are.

Or sleep. I slept through the Mario movie and I think that made it way better.

  • Agreed. It was a fine example of a kid movie with kid actors. If you go in with low expectations, you probably won't be disappointed.

  • It is not a good movie, but my kids enjoyed it, so I got some vicarious pleasure out of the experience. I wouldn't watch it on my own.

  • ?

  • I'd donate a bit to all of them (your home instances, and the respective devs) because you're using resources from each. But that's just me.

  • I've donated to development. Instances need support, but the platform won't improve without developers.

It's popular to shit on lemmy.ml and the tankie devs, but that's where most of the development and beta testing happens. It's wild that software that allows users to ignore the silliness of that instance isn't funded because of the instance.

(It's possible for devs to be distasteful enough that I wouldn't use their software, but we haven't gotten there yet with Lemmy)

  • Let's fucking go

The Facebook Files made – and provided evidence for – multiple allegations, including that Facebook was well aware of how toxic Instagram was for many teen girls; that Facebook has a "secret elite" list of people for whom Facebook's rules don't apply; that Facebook knew its revised algorithm was fueling rage; and that Facebook didn't do enough to stop anti-vax propaganda during Covid-19. Most damningly of all, The Facebook Files reported that all of these things were well known to senior executives, including Mark Zuckerberg.

It's clear which side Sorkin is taking. "I blame Facebook for January 6," he said last year. "Facebook has been, among other things, tuning its algorithm to promote the most divisive material possible. Because that is what will increase engagement ... There’s supposed to be a constant tension at Facebook between growth and integrity. There isn’t. It’s just growth."

  • Mostly Lemmy, but I reinstalled Hoplite for a flight a while ago.

  • There is no single meaning. Viewers of the art can find meaning, but it won't be canonical. I think the meaning the creator intended is important, but that isn't necessarily what the audience will understand from the work.

So I guess I'm saying that the audience determines the meaning.

  • My fave is a long variable name with an obvious spelling mistake near the end. It shows that we're all using auto complete now.

  • Corps are gonna corp.

  • I dunno. It'd be nice to mix things up a bit. Find a whole new set of things to worry about.

  • Repetition repetition repetition
