  • Wow. We posted that simultaneously. Great minds...

  • BE NOT AFRAID

  • The emotion meter corresponds to the four vibe powers she has. The emotions at Vibe Island affect everybody, even enemies, while Peach can change hers at will. The four emotions are joy, gloom, rage, and calm. When the player taps on each mood it will activate a different ability that helps solve puzzles and defeat enemies. Each use will drain the player's vibe meter. The bar can be restored by capturing blue turquoise jewels or absorbing enemies using Perry the parasol.

  • In conversations I find it's best to operate with a positive view of the person I'm talking to. Rather than assuming intent, I go with what they've said and hope for the best until I know otherwise.

You assumed Screen_Shatter disagreed with loan forgiveness, even though they didn't say that in their comment. Happily, the Screen_Shatter replied to you, and they agreed with it! It turns out you have something in common! Just because they have other ideas doesn't mean they disagree on this one.

Assuming Screen_Shatter disagreed was a mistake and it made the conversation less pleasant. Just like telling someone:

Think less in terms of reading completely unrelated twitter posts and ...

Lemmy is a small community. Assume the best about folks on here and help make it more welcoming. Hopefully it'll grow.

  • At no point does the comment say your government shouldn't pay off loans. It sounds more like they want the perfect and the good.

  • It's been years since I ran Linux as my DD, but the major updates seemed to break my setup pretty regularly. Audio, or USB, or sleeping when I closed the laptop lid.

I assume that isn't the case anymore.

  • There are multiple factions. Some of us are happy to pay the people who produce the stuff we enjoy.

  • gboard. Swipe typing is great. I'd love an open source alternative that doesn't involve manually copying stuff around.

  • My grandmother got cochlear implants for both ears after she became unable to hear. She loved that she was able to talk to people again. She said that listening to music wasn't as good as she remembered, but it was better than what she had. I don't think the garbling sound ever disappeared.

Do what feels right. If you don't get it now, you can always get it later.

  • I feel like this is the best approach. An ally is an ally. If they have weird, socially unacceptable, or poorly thought out ideas, but they

    1. aren't acting on them,
    2. don't promote them,
    3. still act in good faith on issues we have in common,

then they're fine for the stuff we care about. The right has built a big tent because they understand this. We're only holding ourselves back by subjecting each other to purity tests.

As always, there are limits, but generally we need to build more coalitions.

  • Every time I have to work in Python, I ask myself this.

  • What? Taiwan doesn't want to give up its only strategic advantage? I'm shocked.

I'm curious how long it would take to build the supply chains and fabs to make the 50% things a reality.

  • My kids are about as cooperative as your cat.

  • Most of the front page was variations on that statement immediately after the shooting.

  • I have. I've provided links to my instance and gotten upvotes. 🤷‍♂️

  • The Wired story says the same thing but with more context and less "trust me, bro".

    They are both interesting reads.

  • Everything that dude says passes the sniff test: it seems like it could be explained as a run of the mill criminal spamming operation. The Secret Service story doesn't offer evidence that there's anyone extraordinary about it.

FWIW the dude also makes a number of unsupported statements that seem to be "trust me bro, I'm a hacker". The statements aren't outlandish, so maybe.

  • No, it's angry you didn't give it a little jacket, now it's very cold and angy, so it's trying to stab you.
