Ugh, yeah, that's all the place has become; communities full of unsubstantial news articles for what is only substantial news a small amount of the time.
Lemmy is like 80% really shitty newspaper, 18% hollow rooms, and 2% community.
But the court found that, unlike traditional search engines that merely present lists of links to third-party statements, Google’s tool made “independent, new, and substantive statements” based on its own misinterpretation of links on the Internet.
That’s a problem, the court said, because while publishers may have been able to sue to stop third parties from publishing defamatory statements appearing in Google search results, only Google can correct the underlying algorithm and outputs displayed in AI Overviews. And because, at least initially, the company did not, it therefore “must be held accountable,” the court ruled. Beyond that, Google’s argument was deemed particularly weak, since the AI overview in this case “contains statements that do not appear in the search results at all.”
That's pretty cut and dry, especially for the parties that were being incorrectly represented in the overview despite letters to Google for cease-and-desist.
There's the ones that you kind of get swooned by and kinda back their cause, like Agent Smith.
Then there's the ones that are just bad, but you get it. Some people just be psychopathic.
Then there's Vecna types and you're like, "What's the plan here, huh? You get your way and then what? Nothing's left to do. Like, at all."
Sauron's another one. Ultimate rule and order... Cool-cool. So he gets that and then what? Why? Just sit and watch Middle Earth like a model railway in the back shed for the next few eons? Wooooow.
It's entirely speculation. It also makes no sense to shit in your own backyard, especially if you're rich.
OP, you should be pursuing actual evidence to heresay before dedicating your trust 100% to it, just because it aligns with what you'd like to be true. I know one group of people that do that a lot...
I can't imagine this doing much else than increasing time spent in the drive thru, for several reasons. Not to mention, someone will still be there as human back up anyway, so why not just not?
Eh, what do I care? I already don't go to McDonald's unless I absolutely have to and have carefully weighed up my hunger versus the impending regret.
That's...not how the sterile tactic works. Anywhere in the world.
For starters, you think they're just going to release everything in winter because last fall there were a couple of cases in proximity of the border? It's insect ecology. Always wait for late-spring to summer before anything. Most generational breeding starts peak-summer period.
When we do this for mosquitos in SE Asia, African Lakes, South America, etc. you prepare, then go it at the right time.
"We had a case in Texas now! Unleash the horde!"
Aaaand you're fucked.
Again, the main concern is about how infestation breached through north of South America and Central America to get to North America. There were proxy cases to the US border over the last six months which obviously meant it'd be in the US come warmer months—and that's been factored for—but why did it get that far up the continent over the last two years?
These are things way outside of Trump's wheelhouse and apparently Lemmy users that only come in here for US politics articles.
my newer one constantly stops recording due to something.
For a while they kept putting the same old processor in that couldn't handle the load. GoPros shutting off due to overheating or recording too long was just normal.
Dunno if it's still the case. I switched to DJI and you can't even compare the two. Quality, smart design, price, reliability; these are not GoPro things. I record for an hour plus sometimes and just flawless. Don't have to think about it.
Literally has nothing to do with Trump or Trump voters.
While the USDA has long been prepared and will just repeat their actions of last time—which the article implies they're already ready to do as it escalates—it's more a concern of what happened to Central/South America, or the fly's reproductive behaviours that has caused the safe zone to slowly get overrun these past few years.
If you really want to point this to Trump, I guess you'll need to find some sort of link to something the US did that somehow caused Panama and then Mexico to get re-invaded, about 6-12 months before he was in office.
Edit: Imagine he catches wind of it though and decides to fuck it all by putting RFK Jr. in charge at the last minute...
It took me a moment to realise that's a circuit board of man-made canalways for waterfronts. Entirely defeating the point of why people want waterfront.
I was about to say that ironically.
Truth is you couldn't be further from it. But it's a little magical to pretend and hope that, yes, Nick Cage is irl all of that.
