  • Reviewer 2 didn't read my paper and makes it my problem. Trump didn't read a book in his life and makes it the world's problem.

  • Science is more like having a laser pointer. Through careful application and repetition, you could technically infer something about the location of the cat. But the cat moves around constantly and doesn't like you being there, and you only have limited time to do it, because the funding for your cat-finding project is about to run out.

  • This is Amazon, too. This is basically any online shop that is active worldwide and organized around individual sellers, and it's one of the reasons I prefer to shop elsewhere nowadays. Hundreds of almost identical products, all with 4-5 star ratings of questionable veracity, photoshopped or downright fake images of the products. I simply can't judge what the products are like anymore.

  • The eyes on that cat spell "murder" to me. When my cat looks at me like that, I'm reaching for the cat toys.

  • Everyone needs an Eierschalensollbruchstellenverursacher.

  • I realized that I phrased my point very poorly. I didn't mean that people don't do sports, eat healthy, and live fulfilling lives. They sure do. What I meant was that people (like when you ask them personally or in a survey) tend to exaggerate their healthy/good habits and downplay the bad ones. So it's good to take self-reports with a grain of salt. It's a well known kind of bias (social desirability).

  • People are also spectacularly good at fooling themselves. Every time someone says stuff like "I do sports three times a week" or "I eat fast food about once a month/year", it's safe to assume they're lying to both you and themselves.

  • Sometimes websites will have a calendar for entering dates, where the largest unit of time you can flip back and forth is a month. Pure evil.

  • Ngl, my first association with "Catdolf" was not LotR.

  • I love it. It combines my resentment of misogyny in video game culture with the things I care about in everyday life such as sleep.

  • Ever played Baldur's Gate 3?

  • I'll fucking do it again.

  • Souls.

  • Mine will sometimes feel rowdy and chase me into the bathroom to bite my ankles. It's good to know that, deep down, he's just concerned about my safety.

  • Must be this new Сигнал app I've been hearing about.

  • lick - chomp - ch-OMP - CHOMP

  • Pizza

    Jump
  • Crust is important to counter the greasiness of the center. When I eat pizza, I alternate between the center and the crust so that the average mouth feel on any two consecutive bites remains roughly the same.

  • Sounds fun at first, intense period of initial fascination, actually really laborious, time-consuming, and not all that fun long-term.

    Yeah, sounds about right.
