  • This whole week has been fucking bonkers, I'll tell you what. It's Project 2025 in full fucking swing; the entire country is off Medicaid (or maybe not); all grant money is frozen (or maybe not); half the populace is to be deported (or maybe not)c and now this. Or maybe not. It'll obviously be challenged in the courts.

The true essence of a dictatorship is in fact not its regularity but its unpredictability and caprice; those who live under it must never be able to relax, must never be quite sure if they have followed the rules correctly or not.

  • Thanks for adding it back in :)

  • Source.

Next time, OP, don't just post a picture and a quote with no attribution.

  • Inevitably, they all channel Dr. Horrible.

The world's a mess and I just... need to rule it.

  • You gotta be fucking kidding me. This is influence laundering, and it is so blatant that it's insulting.

Again, you gotta be fucking kidding me.

  • "Surely it doesn't look that much like a mushroom, does it?" -- "It does, and don't call me Shirley kekek 420 moyase"

I mean, it helps either way you read it

  • Yes, I was a little curt in my reply, had a bad day, I'm sorry. I'm happy for you and your family. :)

  • I mean, at the moment we're still in the negative Scaramuccis, so there

  • The first step to falling for the propaganda is believing that you're immune to the propaganda.

  • Someone in another thread (maybe on Reddit, I don't remember) posited that this is a direct consequence of America's notion of individualism and I haven't been able to get that out of my head since.

It's a slippery slope from individualism to the fear of the Other.

  • No. This is us.

    This is what we are.

  • That reminds me that you should never make the mistake of anthropomorphizing Larry Ellison

  • Bingo

  • Have you tried turning it off and on ag- oh.

In all seriousness, maybe a blown capacitor of any kind? You describe the PC working fine 'before.' When was 'before?'

  • "I confess, I did not know who Pete Hegseth was until about 20 minutes ago," Smith told reporters.

"He does not seem to have much of a detailed background in [Department of Defense] policy. To the extent he’s worked on any of that stuff, it has been on veterans policy, not on DoD issues. So the lack of experience is concerning," Smith said.

“Now I have not heard what his plans are, so we will see what his plans are,” he added. “But it was surprising and is concerning, just given that lack of experience. You know, the Pentagon, biggest bureaucracy in the world. It’s a hard thing to run, so I think it’s going to be a challenge."

In the words of Wash: Oh god, oh god, we're all gonna die.

  • I've read, oh, a dozen 'pretty simple' explanations that claimed to explain what has happened. All of them had merits.

I don't believe things are 'pretty simple' anymore.
