  • a dumb population is easier to control than an educated one. They don't plan on reducing the number of children, no they need more to produce for the wealthy. What they need are dumb kids that will grow into dumb adults. uneducated adults are more likely to have A LOT of kids. So you strip education, you strip healthcare, you make abortions illegal across the board, thus you force the population to keep pumping out new workers. many will die, the strong idiots will survive.

They're turning the country into cattle.

  • give it a few months, they're working up to it.

  • I believe it was Switch that originally supposed to be Trans in the movie. They would be a man in the "Real World" and in the Matrix they would be a woman. But it was 1999 and Warner Bros nixed it.

  • I can't find the story for the life of me right now but I'm pretty sure there was one a few months back where someone was talking with an LLM about their depression and suicide and the LLM essentially said "yeah you should probably do it." because to the LLM, that was the best solution to the problem.

  • to sum up in one word "hopeful". Things were getting good. it was still the fairly early days of the internet and while speeds for the majority of people weren't great honestly unless you were in college on a T1 line you didn't know any better. you had IRC, ICQ, AOL IM, Forums, etc so you met and talked to interesting people and friends from the world over. you expressed yourself and found people with similar interests via geocities, livejournal and/or myspace.

Technology was progressing rapidly and new opportunities were opening up. Suddenly you could make a living building said Geocities sites or designing things on your computer. It was a fun time, a lot of cool and interesting things were happening and it felt like things could only go up from there. So yeah, we were hopeful for the future.

  • at this point I wish I owned a crutch factory that produced outstanding crutches. I would make a killing selling them to Israelis.

And these fuck sticks are all surprised pikachu face that anti-semitism is on the rise world wide. Hell even here in Canada you have people spray painting Jewish schools, businesses, and what have you. The largest Jewish school here in Toronto has 24/7 police presence they even have a damn SWAT Truck parked outside the school. But as soon as a Pro Palestine protest happens in Toronto oh boy is the Jewish community quick to condemn it and then act surprised when people tell them to fuck off.

And yes I'm well aware that not all Jewish people support what Israel is doing but it gets drowned out by those that would love nothing more than to wipe the Palestine people off the face of the earth and claim their land.

And it's not like these people learned nothing from the Holocaust, oh no dear reader they learned plenty. They learned how to commit genocide and use those that were murdered in the Holocaust as props to proudly say "it's our turn now."

  • freetube, invideous, if someone reuploads it somewhere on peertube, ytdlp, ytfzf, etc many ways to consume youtube content without google making a dime of you or tracking you. I'm lazy so I just use freetube.

  • ...with AI admin and moderation. Anyone who's been banned from reddit will tell you that, hell it says as much in the message they give you. I was banned once for saying "slava ukraini" which according to my ban was a direct attack at a minority (apparently russians are a minority according to reddit bots) and then another for asking how long before citizens begin shooting at ICE agents which, again according to reddit bots, was inciting violence on a minority (ICE agents are now also a minority according to reddit).

the vast majority of posts and comments are bots. the obvious reposts with misleading titles to generate karma to allow said bots to have enough karma to then post on various other subreddits to push whatever bullshit agenda or product they want to push.

  • I've blocked the .ml instance so I wouldn't know.

  • because the ultra wealthy can't cook, can't produce the stuff needed to cook, can't build super cars or private jets or build mansions, they can't make the latest high tech gadgets, they can't produce the most stylish of clothes or expensive watches. That's why they keep us around. They need us plebs to make them stuff and produce their wealth to purchase the shit we make.

  • older than 10 years, more like 12 or 13. I remember arguing about this damn dress at the ad agency I was working at in 2012.

  • there's such a painfully obvious agenda over there with the admins. I got a 7 day ban for knocking russians and saying "slava ukraini" then I got a perm ban a week after that for posing the question "how long until an average citizen with an AR decides to deal with ICE themselves?" because apparently both times I was "inciting violence against a minority" because Russians and ICE agents, according to Reddit, are minorities

  • 2 weeks? it was a lot longer than that. I mean hell there was a god damn multi-part comic about the "war" between digg and reddit. early reddit was a cringefest.

  • can't. the ones that are still there wouldn't understand how to use lemmy and the fediverse and they'll just bash for the same reasons that bsky users bash mastodon. They want things to "just work" out of the box and are too lazy to figure things out.

  • Canadian Here. prior to the election? we'd be welcoming. now? there seems to be a general sense of "we don't what that idiocy here" the right-wing cons of Canada would likely embrace Americans but the general consensus with my friends and family is that Americans are now considered morons (left and right leaning).

  • happens on every "new" social media platform that is similar to another social media platform. Was all over Lemmy when people were "boycotting" reddit...course most went right back to reddit when the boycotting was over.

  • improved my lemmy experience ten fold just blocking that instance.

  • honestly the ONLY reason I'm still on Linkedin is the entertainment value. Threads by game devs are just...wild. just that ONE specific group provides a great hearty chuckle in the morning without insanely idiotic they are.

You want to read threads by individuals who think they float on water, their shit don't stink, and each one is a personal jesus and then fight with each other over it? go read threads by game devs on linkedin.

  • same with me and /r/Toronto got banned for stating a long dead prime minister was horrible to indigenous people. they used the excuse that I was submitting too many articles about crimes in the city as that subreddit's mods automatically remove any content about crime or pro Palestinian content.

Post god knows how many photos of the CN tower, the fucking sun setting or snow...hey that's great! anything that's news worthy and potentially paints the city in a bad light? nope, censored. It's so bad that i'm convinced the mods there are being paid under the table by the City.
