  • Believe it or not, the nebulous nature of the department actually is what makes them more likely to have qualified immunity because their role hasn't been "clearly established" by case law. You couldn't even talk say what "actions as a part of their duties" are. I'm not a fan of qualified immunity.

    As far as suing the government over what DOGE does, good luck figuring out where an agency deputized by executive order fits in here: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Federal_Tort_Claims_Act

It seems people really need it spelled out to them: he's saying protectionism works in the long term but they're old and will all be dead(a keynes quote "The long run is a misleading guide to current affairs. In the long run we are all dead"). He's wrong though. Protectionism, which are essentially self sanctions, can develop an industry as much as not. Nothing's a vacuum.

  • Florida doesn't particularly need cloud seeding(they get plenty of rain and don't need to increase snowpack on the mountains they don't have), so it's kind of a useless exercise. The places that do do it mostly seem to be wasting their time though. The climate change attempts to increase albedo and thus lower temperature are just research exercises at this point.

  • That's because he still believes he's going to succeed with his appeal. The delusions last for a long time with these folks. He likely put in a hardship appeal to bypass her ban on re-entry for however many years due to overstaying her visa. And he actually believes this administration will sign off on it.

    A successful appeal in a past administration could take well over a year. He's truly fucked under Trump who's actively firing judges that approve too many waivers in their opinion and making the backlog even longer. He's not wrong that the system has been fundamentally broken and nonsensical. He's an exceptional idiot for thinking Trump is going to improve it though.
