  • As someone who got a scholarship for playing trombone, I prefer tromboner

  • I've always wanted to rage quit a job. Abandoning a job also seems like fun

  • In Minnesota, it seems to be almost universal for us to get paid bi-weekly. Most are on Friday, but my oddball employer ends the workweek on a Tuesday.

Wage theft in MN is much more subtle. It's very uncommon for a check to be late like that, in my experience. What employers will do instead is:

    • Force you to work off the clock
    • Force you into tipping pools or stealing tips
    • Make paycheck deductions
    • Not paying final wages
    • Paying subminimum wages
    • Worker misclassification
  • Well it's natural prey is billionaires, so probably actually a net positive for the environment

  • Oh I see. What that means when it comes to the bargaining unit is that the company can't negotiate a separate contract with the same employees that circumvent the union. This is a good thing imo, it keeps us unified.

Union structure is much more complex than that. A bargaining unit is a single contract and that bargaining unit is a union, but if these individual unions gain enough power, they can come together and force companies within an industry to negotiate a standard contract. That's what happens with the wga. It's the long term goal that every organizer should strive for imo

  • What do you mean by strict? In my experience (US) We have a lot of flexibility in what we're allowed to do. There are limitations, and yes they are bullshit, but I wouldn't describe them as strict.

What do you mean by cross industry union? Several unions, my own included, represents a broad cross section of the working class. A lot of the unions that make up a company, department, or workplace are made up all positions

  • Amen!! Well said!

  • We're in real trouble now!

  • It's often recognized as International Worker's Day, but I don't know of many places where it's a public holiday. Here in the US, Labor Day is celebrated on Sept. 1, explicitly to separate the labor movement from it's radical origins

  • The O'Brien will continue until morale decreases

  • That's a big fucking stembolt

  • I already have the dope lined up for tonight, but I need the insurance. Fuck off Randy

  • I wanted to see Ghost one of the few times they were coming to my city, but it just didn't work out. I was going to buy tickets to Rammstein, but then covid happened, the singer caught covid, and they cancelled the tour. I was going to go to RATM at all costs for their reunion, and then Zach broke his leg.

  • Shower beer is hard to beat

  • Go for triple radical freedom, just to really drive the point home
